MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Dear Fellow Servants,

Happy Mother’s Day to my mother, my wife, all my MBCC mothers and mothers around the world. There is nothing more precious in life than a mother and her love. We will have a special tribute to mothers this Sunday during worship service. If you can, tell your mother this weekend that you love her. Love you, Mom!

Another Mother's Day is here,
Bringing joy and pleasures new,
On this special day, Mother dear,
I want to remember you.
I cannot give you costly gifts,
And I've told you this before,
No matter what I give to you,
You give back much, much more.
I'm giving you a pure, sweet rose,
Gathered in the early morn,
This rose you planted in my heart,
The day that I was born.
In kindly, loving thoughts of you,
And with the faith you still impart,
The rose I give to you today,
Is the love that's in my heart.

Last Sunday we launched our ALL NEW SUNDAY SERIES focused on the Six Marks of Discipleship—Daily Prayer, Weekly Worship, Daily Bible Reading, Service, Spiritual Friendships and Giving.  The first “Mark” we highlighted was “Giving”.  The sermon title was “Pressed Down, Shaken Together and Running Over” (Luke 6:38).    I asked the congregation to “write down TEN THINGS YOU WANT TO DO BEFORE YOU DIE”.  If you participated in this exercise, I hope that you have begun to pray and ask God to manifest those things that you hope to accomplish.

If you didn’t attend Sunday’s worship experience, take a few moments to ponder ten things you desire to do before you take your last breath.  The exercise proved to be a productive one for me.  You see, earning a PhD was one of my desires, and God allowed it to come to pass.

Please accept my deepest, sincerest thanks to all of you who prayed and worked with me during this endeavor, and those who celebrated with me as I graduated last weekend. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I’m excited about what God is going to do during our worship experience on Sunday!  So, be sure to bring your family and friends with you!

Don’t miss three life-changing worship experiences with inspirational music and powerful preaching by Dr.  Claude Alexander Jr. and Dr. Jasmin Sculark at our SPRING FESTIVAL OF PREACHING, “To Hell and Back”, May 12th – 14th at 7 p.m. each night. There are many people

in this community who are going through hell due to bad relationships, finances, jobs, schools, war, etc. We need to reach out and touch as many people as possible so that we can strengthen, encourage and grow relationships. So, I'm counting on you to invite your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to our Spring Festival of Preaching, May 12th – 14th at 7 p.m. nightly. If you aren’t currently a part of a Bible class or ministry of THE BLVD, bring a group of visitors with you to be eligible for a FREE GIFT! Check out this video link and send it to your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to get a sneak peek of what to expect.http://mbccmemphis.org/audio_video/Revival_Spring08.wmv

Next Wednesday, May 14, our CALL WAITING series will be placed “on hold” (no pun intended), as we experience three nights filled with inspirational music and  anointed messages during  our Spring Festival of Preaching.

Join us on Wednesday, May 21 at 7 p.m. as we continue this powerful series with “When God Puts You on Hold – Part 1” featuring an anointed message by Pastor Janae Pitts.  MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!!

Have you ever felt like God has put you on HOLD?  You are confident about God’s Will for your life, but you can’t figure out what’s taking so long.  If you feel like God has you in a ‘holding pattern’, this one is for you!  Discover some answers to this ‘WHY’ question as Pastor Janae teaches, When God Puts You On Hold.  Attend and you may receive a FREE GIFT!

Have a great weekend! I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Serve Is What I Do,

Pastor Frank

MOTHER’S DAY ON  PENTECOST

What happens when an extra-early Easter and a fixed-date national holiday collide? Well, you might end up with Mother's Day on Pentecost, or Pentecost on Mother's Day, depending upon your perspective. For Christians, Pentecost is fifty days after the Resurrection; ten days after the Ascension. Mother’s Day became an official national holiday in 1914 as a day "for a public expression of our love and reverence for the mothers of our country." This year, the fiftieth day after the Resurrection and the second Sunday in May are on the same day, May 11, 2008. Which celebration takes precedence? The obvious answer would be Pentecost. Pentecost marks the coming of the Holy Spirit after the Ascension and is thought of as the "birthday" of the church. But who said that the obvious is easy?  On Sunday, May 11, we will honor mothers, as we celebrate Pentecost Sunday.  Join us in dressing in red, or some measure of red, to celebrate life in the church, not just physical birth but spiritual birth & re-birth!
