Dear Fellow Servant,

THE BLVD was “the place to be” on the 4th of July. This week I start with a “thank you” to all of you who passed up on sleeping late and grilling early to come to worship. I would say that God rewarded us with a sweet anointing as we kicked off our Seven Deadly Sins Summer Series. Sunday’s sin was ENVY. We experienced some technical difficulties with our Live Streaming that resulted in interruptions for our internet viewers. We appreciate you and want to offer you a complimentary viewing of the message. Click here to view and enjoy Sunday’s sermon called Giving God the Evil Eye. I also invite you to view our Sunday and Wednesday night worship online weekly when you are unable to attend.

At one point during the sermon, I asked everyone in the congregation to grade themselves on an envy scale of 1 – 10 based on ten questions with 10 being the highest violation. It was brought to my attention that I only shared nine of the ten questions for the self-exam Sunday. Below is the list in its entirety:

1) Do you feel offended at the talents, successes, or good fortune of others?
2) Do you participate in selfishness or unnecessary rivalry or competition?
3) Do you take pleasure at another’s difficulties or distress?
4) Do you read false motives into other’s behaviors?
5) Do you belittle others and make false accusations?
6) Do you backbite –saying something bad behind another’s back even if it is true?
7) Do you slander – saying something bad in the open about a person even if it is true?
8) Do you retell gossip?
9) Do you tease or bully people?
10) Do you organize antagonism against others?

Would you be excited to share your score or would you hide it?

Speaking of hiding, this Sunday we continue the series, Seven Deadly Sins, with a lesson on Greed. Last week was just the beginning. Don’t miss this week!

Wednesday night we had a wonderful time and pretty nice size crowd for the first installment of That’s Just My Cousin John Bible Study. I was really happy to see so many of you here. Following the study we had four people to come and confess that they wanted to make a fresh start with Christ at THE BLVD and we rejoiced. The style of teaching this particular series is different I know. I hope that you embrace it and allow me to take you on this journey into the life of John the Baptist. I do not think you will be disappointed. Come back next week and bring a few others with you who are hungry for knowledge. Mark your calendars for Wednesday Night Bible Study at 7PM and live streaming online at www.theblvd.org.

Please continue to give a little bit more, come to worship a little bit more and just love each other a little bit more. God bless you and I look forward to seeing you this Sunday!

ANNUAL DISCIPLE STUDY CELEBRATION
On Sunday, July 11, THE BLVD Disciples and Jesus in the Gospel Bible study classes will commemorate the end of the 2009 – 2010 year with a graduation and promotion service. The celebration marks the culmination of 34 weeks of in-depth scripture study for 72 students and teachers. This year’s theme is “Passing the Gospel to Others.” Click here for our 2009 – 2010 graduates.

The Disciple Bible Study has been a part of THE BLVD’s Bible study curriculum for more than 10 years and has attracted new students each year who are willing to journey through the Old and New Testaments. Many students have found that the study is more than just scripture study; it is new revelation, stronger spiritual friendships, growing faith and increased thirst for the Word each week. Together class members survived family and personal illnesses, death of friends and family, job loss and numerous relationship challenges. Yet, through prayer and spiritual support, Disciple students testify and praise God for the power and strength found in God’s Word. Click here to access 2009 – 2010 Disciple Graduate, Carolyn Walker’s story.
