MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Dear Fellow Servant,

I have received quite a few notes, Facebook posts and emails about our Easter Sunday message. Didn’t God work some things out on Sunday? Aren’t you glad that some things are not microwavable? What a wonderful way to bring an end to our 40 Days of Love Sermon Series. God’s love is the greatest love of all! It was an extended series I know, but like the message on Sunday, some things just take time.

This Sunday I am going to talk to you about fishing. When was the last time you went fishing? Did you catch anything? Whether you did or didn’t I have some tips directly from the Word to make you an absolutely great fisher!

We are two weeks away from the first performance of Umoja 2010. I’m excited. Are you? Part of the cast appeared on Live @ 9 this morning and they did a terrific job! Side note: Those dancers and drummers have to be in good shape to perform like that. They are probably exercising and eating right. If the drums and the dance don’t elevate you to Catch the Spirit, then surely the all-new storylines, costumes and music will.

Umoja is in the air around THE BLVD. The creative team has done an excellent job with setting the atmosphere. On April 18 we are encouraging the congregation to show support for Umoja by wearing your Umoja gear. It can be old, new or borrowed. If you don’t have any and want to purchase, the new shipment is in. I took a peek at the new promotional material in the bookstore. I believe this will be a sellout year for our shirts, bags, backpacks, caps and other pieces. Beat the crowd and get your gear early. On the 25th we are going all out with African attire at THE BLVD Midtown. If you have never seen it, it almost looks like the wedding scene from Coming to America! It’s fun and it’s become a tradition at Midtown.

I also want to mention that there will be a brief update meeting this Sunday immediately following worship service for teachers and administrators regarding the Umoja matinee. If you were in the initial meeting I held in February along with Pastor Nakeesha Weston, please plan to attend.

That’s it for this week. As always I encourage you to bring or invite someone you love to church with you on Sunday. There is no greater expression of love, one for another, than sharing the Good News of Christ. Don’t forget to tune in weekly to our 15 Minutes of Faith program on 95.7 Hallelujah FM. If you miss it, you can hear the replay weekly. And finally, please become a partner with us via our Facebook Fanpage where we update regularly with the great things happening at THE BLVD.

See you Sunday!
