Sunday, we celebrate life! If you haven’t heard, the one and
only Bishop Vashti
McKenzie, is bringing the word on Pink Sunday, October 10
and she is more than able to do it. If you or someone you love
has been in the battle against cancer of any kind, we want you
to come and help us celebrate victory in Jesus. God can heal
and deliver! Sunday at 8:30AM at our East Campus inside Opera
Memphis and Sunday at 10:00AM in Midtown. You may also join us
LIVE at 10:00AM online by going to the website: www.theblvd.org. Now,
I want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who had anything
to do with this past Saturday’s Community
Care-A-Soul! I was overjoyed to see all of you spreading
love and having fun. I know a lot of work went into making the
day appear seamless.
It was a wonderful experience of connecting with our
family and friends in the community. I was so inspired by the
camaraderie and connections we made over our diverse community
that for the next few weeks, following Pink Sunday, we are
going to go ALL OUT in encouraging you to bring your family
and friends ALL IN to worship. If
you love someone, you should want them to experience the love
of Christ. If you care about someone, you should not let the
first “no” stop you from asking them again to join you at THE
BLVD for worship. Our overriding theme for the upcoming weeks
beginning Sunday,
October 17 is “I
Love My BFFs”. For the rest of the world, the BFF is your
Best Friend Forever. In this case, it’s our Boulevard Family and
Friends. Let’s keep the love flowing. Make a vow right now
to bring someone to church with you this Sunday, next Sunday
and Super Sunday. Super
Sunday is all about our children. We all know that we should
train children up in the way they should go but how many of us
reach beyond our own house on Sunday and invite a child to
church? Sunday, October 24 is Super
Sunday. It is a worship service with special emphasis on
children. The theme is I Am A Sidekick for
Jesus! Make plans now to bring the children in your
neighborhood with you. Finally,
I invite you to purchase your copy of my new book, Preaching With Sacred
Fire. It’s a really good book that chronicles African
American preachers through the years. My next book signing is
at THE BLVD, Sunday,
October 17. I am signing copies at THE BLVD East before
worship at 8:00AM. I am hosting a book signing the same

FIGHT AGAINST INFANT MORTALITY Memphis leads the nation in infant mortality with zip code 38108 leading in premature deaths. Sisters in Motion Memphis (SIMM) an African American women’s group shares interests in fitness, fellowship, and a desire to preserve our future. Chosen Vessels Women’s Ministry is proud to support SIMM in their Annual 5K Walk/Run “Project 38108” in Overton Park, Saturday, October 16 at 9:00AM. SUPER SUNDAY THE BLVD Children’s Ministry Super Sunday is October 24. Theme: “Be a Jesus Sidekick.” With children as the focus of evangelism, we are asking every BLVD member to “Be a Jesus Sidekick” by bringing a child to church. TRUNK OR
TREAT THE
BLVD Midtown Student Ministry is hosting a family Trunk or Treat Sunday,
October 31st immediately following morning worship. We
are asking members of the congregation to fill their trunks with
candy so that our children can Trunk or Treat in a safe
and wholesome environment. Children are encouraged to bring a bag to
gather treats, and a friend to enjoy the food, fun, and family
