MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Dear Fellow Servant,

I don’t know about you, but I am still rejoicing from the Founder’s Day Celebration we experienced at THE BLVD last Sunday.  I knew that Tye Tribbett was a highly favored and anointed songwriter, singer, and musician.  I read that he is a successful businessman, father and husband.  What I did NOT know was how deep this young man is rooted in the Word and that he could bring such a powerful message in a way that reached the young and old.  He began with a call to the people of God, encouraging us to “Be not weary in well-doing” (adapted from II Thessalonians 3:13).  It was a powerful message and one that you can own.  CDs and DVDs of his message are on sale now. CDs are $5 and DVDs are $10.

I have the opportunity to travel up the road just a little bit to Drummonds, TN which is near Millington.  I will be in Revival with St. Marks Baptist Church in Drummonds starting Monday, November 16th through the 18th of November.  Very rarely do I accept engagements this close to home and when I do, I love to invite my church family to come and represent the Body of Christ that dwells at THE BLVD.  St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church is located at 3220 Wilkinsville Rd. in Drummonds, TN 38023.  Reverend Keith McGee, former Chief Administrative Officer for the city of Memphis, is the host pastor.  Service is 7pm nightly.

Our Holidays at THE BLVD concert is upon us.  As your Senior Servant, I am asking you to please support the concert by not only buying tickets, but by encouraging others to buy tickets.  If we as a family are not strongly supporting the programming we offer at THE BLVD, how can we expect anyone else to do it?  We call it concert but it’s so much more.  It’s a proud moment for us as a church to fellowship together with songs brought by our own Music Ministry and by a top gospel artist who has travelled the world spreading the Good News through music.  Secular artists come to the city and charge three and four times as much for a show.  There is nothing wrong with seeing a show, but there is something wrong when we are slow to support artists who bring the Good News vs. artists who bring…whatever it is that they bring!  Let’s do the right thing and support our own.

Finally, in closing my letter today I want to ask you to please be in prayer for THE MED.  If you have not heard, The Regional Medical Center of Memphis (also known as THE MED) is threatening closure of its emergency room facilities.  This means that the poor, elderly and uninsured of our community for whom we should show the most care, will be without proper medical care.  I am joining with other spiritual leaders in the city and asking you to pray with all of your might for the health of our city.  Pray for the people who would be affected by the closure as well as the leaders making the decision.  Tye Tribbett’s latest CD is called Stand Out.  How befitting that the lyrics encourage us to not conform but to be transformed.  We must stand out as people of God and transform this city into one God intends it to be.

Have a Blessed Week!
