MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH |
| |
|
Dear Fellow
Servants,
Last Sunday, we continued our
preaching series “The
Search for Oz” focusing on the Tin Man character who
proved he had all he needed to make a decision just as we do
when placed in a situation that requires a right now response.
Don’t miss a Sunday as we travel the yellow brick
road in search of a Brain, Courage, a Heart
and a Home; remembering that all
are within us because God has given us
everything we need. This Sunday, we will encounter the
Lion in search of courage; our scripture will be Psalms 31:
21-24. If you missed last week’s worship, the CD or DVD may be
purchased at the Receptionist Desk in the Montgomery Lobby
during the week or in the Bookstore on
Sunday.
The “I Will Trust God
Again” series is going well each Wednesday in the MLK Seminar Room at
7PM. Let’s remember to invite our family, friends and
neighbors to share in this series that will culminate our September 22 – 24, Fall
Festival of Preaching. Our guest preacher will be Dr.
Ralph D. West, pastor and founder of The Church Without Walls
in
Houston
Texas
along with
renowned recording artist V. Michael McKay and THE BLVD
Community Choir. There will be an exclusive music workshop
each night of the revival that will minister songs written by
V. Michael McKay and recorded by Yolanda Adams, Tramaine
Hawkins and Albertina Walker. Choir rehearsals will begin at
6PM each night; contact the Music Ministry at 901.272.5614 for
more information. Click here to view a special
video.
On Tuesday, September
23rd, we will host a family dinner for you
and your family starting at 5:30PM. The cost will
be $1.00 per
person; tickets can be purchased in advance in the
Bellevue and Montgomery lobbies following
Sunday service; for additional information, please contact
Pastor Pitts at 901.272.5630.
A special Youth Revival has
been added to our Fall Festival of Preaching on Wednesday, September
24th at 7:00PM. Let’s be intentional about
inviting and bringing our whole family, friends, and
neighbors; there’s something great in store for everyone!
Please read the activities and service
opportunities listed below and share them with your family and
friends to keep them abreast of what’s happening at THE
BLVD.
With a Servant’s
Heart,
Pastor

ISAAC HAYES' MEMORIAL
SERVICE
At
the farewell memorial service for Isaac Hayes, Pastor Frank,
some of our Ushers and other MBCC members provided support to
mourners at Hope Presbyterian Church. An article in this month's Jet
Magazine has a photo of Pastor Frank, Al
Sharpton and Jesse Jackson as they reminisce over Hayes'
impact, along with other attendees’ photos. Many celebrities
gathered, paying respect to the Memphian artist who did not
forget his roots. Hayes’ music reached from coast to coast and
will be remembered in the
Memphis
community and around
the world for many years.
MUSIC MINISTRY OPEN

NEW MBCC PICTORIAL DIRECTORY
We are in
the process of completing The MBCC Pictorial Directory in 2008.
We would encourage every family who has not taken a picture
to make an appointment by calling 800-866-2263. Also, any
families with changes (i.e., new baby, marriage, need of newer
photo, etc.) are encouraged to make a new appointment. We
don't want any family at MBCC to be left out of the 2008
Pictorial Directory!"

KROGER/SCHNUCKS FUNDRAISING
ACTIVITY
In
last week’s E-news we indicated that we had raised $3500 from
the combined Kroger and Schnucks’ re-loadable card fundraising
activity. Again, we thank you for your faithfulness in loading
and re-loading your Kroger and Schnucks’ cards. This activity
has been underway for 7 months with us averaging about $500
per month. We believe with your help and assistance, we can
raise this monthly amount to $800 or more per month. We
believe we can accomplish this goal through our combined
efforts by: |
|
·
continuing to believe God for the success of this
program.
·
contacting current cardholders
using email or regular mail to remind them to take their card
with them and load the card before
shopping
.
·
issuing cards to those who do not have
them.
·
issuing new cards to current cardholders whose
current card is no longer
usable
·
re-emphasizing the importance of this fundraiser to
members of the congregation
This fundraising activity
benefits the ministries of our future leaders, children and
youth. Whatever we can do today to help their tomorrow is
an effort worth doing. Therefore, we believe that with the
help of God and the continued faithfulness of our congregation,
the current $500 per month will be increased to $800 or more. If you
do not have an MBCC authorized Kroger or Schnucks’ card, get
one on Sunday or come by the church during the week to get
your card so you can start loading and re-loading your card.
Thanks again for your support! |
