MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Dear Fellow Servant,

The end of 2010 is rapidly approaching. Are the years going by faster or am I just getting older? Either way, we are already into November, the traditional season of giving. I am so thankful that I am surrounded by people who believe in giving year-round. I can recall where we were at the beginning of the year facing a dent in our giving. Your response to our call to give A Little Bit More was truly inspiring and generous. I believe that you are ready to expand your generosity to include the community as well. We are proclaiming the rest of 2010 as our special season of generosity. Our overriding theme is Generosity: Pass It On! Our goal is to touch the lives of others by showering them with good deeds. God has been so good and as Disciples of Christ, we have a duty to pass that goodness on to others. Make it a point to go out of your way for someone who cannot return the kindness. For example, it could be as simple as helping someone take groceries to the car, helping someone across the street or letting someone get in front of you in line. The deeds can also be larger like giving of your time to a charitable organization, helping a senior citizen with yard work or delivering meals via our Manna organization. Whether it’s giving of your time, your talents or your treasure, it all counts. We want to record 5000 Good Deeds by the end of the year beginning on Founders Day, November 14 and going through December when we will celebrate our victory in Jesus name. As you show generosity and pass it on, share it with us in three ways:

1. Place on the wall of 5000 Good Deeds (in the sanctuary at THE BLVD Midtown and in the lobby at THE BLVD East)

2. Post on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/THEBLVD1

3. Send an email to gooddeeds@theblvd.org

There is more to our Generosity: Pass It On! Mission. Watch for details as we move through the end of the year.

I want to thank you for your participation and generosity during our Trunk or Treat and Men’s Cook off last Sunday. The youth and young at heart had a ball.  If you want to see the photos from Trunk or Treat, visit the link: http://mbccmemphis.org/halloween.

Right now, I am preparing to take a journey that few pastors have the privilege of taking. As a part of the Memphis Clergy Group, Joyce and I are taking an interfaith tour to Israel with spiritual leaders from diverse denominations across the Mid-South. During our trek we will study and visit sites of Biblical context including Galilee, Jerusalem, and experience a baptism in the Jordan River. We are very excited and honored to take part in this once in a lifetime trip. Please keep all of us in your prayers as we travel.

I want to remind you that our Founders Day celebration is Sunday, November 14. We will have one worship service for both campuses at THE BLVD Midtown beginning at 10:00 AM. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us for one amazing celebration 89 years in the making.

In closing today remember Daylight Savings Time ends Sunday. This means you get one extra hour between Saturday night and Sunday morning so don’t forget to set your clocks back!

God bless you. God loves you. Now go and spread love to others!
