MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Dear Fellow Servant,

My message to you today is filled with joy and adoration for the Greatness of God.  This past Sunday in South Africa we watched as 150 people came to Christ.  On a personal note, I am enjoying quality time with friends and family.  I will be home in Memphis this weekend and I look forward to sharing much more information with you about this trip.

In my absence I have heard nothing but wonderful things about your faithfulness.  It does my heart good to know that you come to THE BLVD to experience worship.  I am so thankful to have a pastoral staff that can bring the Word.  Preach Pastors!

This weekend is Date Night Weekend for THE BLVD as we continue 40 Days of Love.  Did you make plans?  I want to hear from newly married couples and seasoned couples on their Date Night adventures.  You never know who you might encourage with your stories.  Send your Date Night stories, pictures or videos to our Communications Director and we will upload it to the fan page.  The Facebook Fan Page membership is growing.  I did receive word from a few of you who did not know how to access it so we created an instruction sheet.  If you follow these step-by-step instructions you will be a member in just a few minutes.  Then you can keep up with all of the great things that are happening at THE BLVD Midtown and THE BLVD East.

THE BLVD East is hosting its first Servant Volunteer Fair this Sunday from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.  If you attend worship at the East Campus please plan to attend the fair.  I am praying for an overflow of willing servants to come and say “Send me, I’ll go.”

We continue our 40 Days of Love series this week with a focus on domestic violence.  There are songs that speak to the idea that love hurts.  It may hurt, but it is not violent.  We stand firm on the belief that love is not easily angered.  This Sunday, the message will address love as being non-violent.  We are adorning in and/or accessorizing with the color purple which is the color that represents domestic violence awareness.  Please join us by wearing something purple.

We are gearing up for Umoja 2010.  Tickets can be purchased at the Reception Desk during normal operating hours and on Sundays and Wednesdays in the Bookstore.  Beginning this week you can also purchase on Sundays in the Bellevue Lobby following worship service.  Remember, if you get your tickets early, you save $5 on the ticket price.  For just $10 you can enjoy a Broadway-styled production with new dances, music and drama.  It’s well worth the price of admission.

Don’t forget to listen to our newest radio program, 15 Minutes of Faith with Dr. Frank Anthony Thomas, Wednesdays on 95.7 at 6pm. If you miss it, you can hear the replay weekly.

See you Sunday.

DR. FRANK A. THOMAS Senior Servant

DIVERSITY DEVELOPER INCUBATOR

In 2008, the City of Memphis established a new initiative, the Diversity Developer Incubator (DDI), as an attempt to increase the number of Minorities and Women participating in Real Estate Development. The DDI is a Real Estate Development Training Course consisting of a combination of course study and real life Project Development. Additional goals of the DDI are to increase the number of private and public partnerships attacking blight throughout the City of Memphis, and to become the “model” program for increasing the presence of Minorities and Women in Real Estate Development. Click here for course overview and application form. Flyers are available in THE BLVD Midtown CIC.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS

Domestic violence touches the lives of Americans of all ages, leaving a devastating impact on women, men and children of every background and circumstance. A family's home becomes a place of fear, hopelessness and desperation when a woman is battered by her partner, a child witnesses the abuse of a loved one, or a person is victimized by family members. Since the 1994 passage of the landmark Violence Against Women Act, championed by then Senator Joe Biden, our nation has strengthened its response to this crime and increased services for victims. Still, far too many people and their families in this country and around the world are affected by domestic violence. In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness, we encourage the congregation to wear purple on Sunday, March 7 in support of ending domestic violence.
