MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Dear Fellow Servant:

As I looked at our new glass doors being installed, I was thankful for the continued renovation progress on our Sanctuary. There are still finishing touches that need to be made on the doors, but when they have been completed they will set a totally new tone to our Sanctuary entrances/exits. This week, we also began replacing the Sanctuary carpet. We realize that this may cause some minor inconvenience and again I am asking for your support. Great strides are being made in renovating our Sanctuary and other areas of the church.

Our Wednesday Midweek sermon series has been powerful. The feedback from the congregation has led Pastor Reggie to continue this series for an extra three weeks. If you have not been in the house to experience our Fabulous Faith sermon series, press your way to the church on Wednesdays at 7:00PM. You will be glad you did.

Tomorrow is the day for us to have fun, evangelize and fellowship at our Congregational and Community Carnival. Meet me in the Family Life Center with your walking shoes at 8:30AM as we embark on our one mile “Walk of Faith” around our church and community at 9:00 a.m. This will be a powerful walk as we meditate on the continued blessings of THE BLVD, thankful that we still exist in today’s economy and that we are moving forward, and reaching out to our neighbors. Let our walk also be an invitation to the community that we are a praying church, walking by faith and inviting them to join us. At 10:00AM, we will have our ribbon cutting ceremony for our improved Family Life Center which you will get to experience as you participate in our planned activities. Here’s a brief list of our planned activities for all ages - Children’s Bouncers and Rides; Zumba, Line Dancing, Cake Walk, Card Games, Basketball Tournament, Talent Contest, Free Legal Clinic and much more! We also have a DJ to keep everything on point and upbeat. Invite your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to come and experience THE BLVD on this fun-filled activity day.

Our Black Tie Gala tickets for all precious stones levels can be picked-up on Sunday in the East Campus lobby and in the CIC and Bookstore at Midtown campus. If you cannot pick-up your tickets on Sunday, they will be at our Midtown campus Receptionist Desk throughout the week. All available complimentary Gala tickets have been distributed. Thank you to everyone who supported our Legacy Giving, we had a tremendous outpouring. Your support is truly appreciated.

Our Black-Tie Gala is Friday, November 11 at 10000 Woodland Hills Drive. The Gala event will begin at 7:00PM with doors opening at 6:00PM. This evening of elegance will be a time of reflecting and remembering our 90 years of Word, Worship and Work while being entertained by renowned violinists, “Nuttin’ But Stringz”; Solist, Rev. Jeffrey Murdock; and music by DJ Harold Smith. This is a “Black Tie” formal event BUT please do not buy any new clothes, just wear your best dressy outfit or suit. Remember everyone must have a ticket.

Again, this is our 90th Anniversary and we are thanking and celebrating God for blessing us to be in His service for 90 years. I will be looking for you on tomorrow.

Come Celebrate

STEWARDSHIP |

MONEY MATTERS

It’s become an all-too-familiar headline – lay-offs and furloughs, falling housing prices and rising consumer debt, declining retail sales and increasing costs of living. Money – and the lack of it – is a source of stress and frustration. And while people the world over are working to stem the global financial situation we’re in, folks at home are trying to gain some control over their own financial situations, too. The Bible teaches us that “the people perish because of a lack of knowledge.” Practicing positive, tried and true money management techniques – and learning how to recognize and avoid some “ripped from the headlines” consumer scams and rip-offs – can help you weather tough economic times. Begin today to educate yourself and your family about financial matters. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency, created the website (Money Matters) to help you tackle some money issues head-on. Visit their website to learn more about managing your money and various scams designed to separate you from your money.
