MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Dear Fellow Servant,

Summer is here!  Officially summer isn’t until late June.  However, it doesn’t take a meteorologist to note the change in seasons.  Seasons change without our help.  Human change however, calls for dedicated energy and action from us.  This was the premise of the message last Sunday (5/31) called Save Yourself.  The foundation for the message was built from Acts 2:40. Save yourself from health scares, financial woes and haphazard spending.  Give yourself the best opportunity to be the best you can be starting today.

This week, I am proudly acknowledging some servants who are on that path to saving themselves and empowering others to do the same.  First, I want to congratulate the 2009 graduating class at MASE (Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering).  MASE was the first charter school in the state and this week they are handing diplomas to 89 out of 89 seniors.  100% of the senior class will walk into their own season and I couldn’t be more proud.  Read the article and see if you too are not inspired.  Share it with your children to encourage them as well.

Additionally, I want to commend Pastor Sharkey and his team on the wonderful work they are doing with our groundbreaking Leadership Institute.  Thirty-five young people in grades 7 – 12 came to THE BLVD on June 1 to soak up the knowledge and training the Leadership Institute is offering.  I am sure that they will leave equipped and ready for the next level in their lives.  This is a direct reflection of the vision of our Youth and Children Ministry leaders.  The next session begins June 22 and there is space available.

Wednesday night we welcomed home Dr. Eugene Gibson of Olivet Fellowship.  If you missed it, you missed an AWESOME and powerful word of God.  The great thing is that you will have another chance to come and enjoy our June Sons and Daughters series next Wednesday when Rev. Tyrone Hunt of Walker Memorial will be bringing the word.  The series continues each Wednesday night in June at 7PM.

There is always so much to share with you and I hope you take the time to read all of our news so that you can be aware of what’s happening at THE BLVD.

Have a wonderful and blessed week.  Remember, save yourself!
