MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD
CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Dear Fellow
Servant:
As I prepared last Sunday’s
sermon, I thought about the economic and political
crises that God’s people deal with every day. Our
wealthy seem to be getting wealthier and others
getting poorer. As we live through these crises,
we have hope in Jesus Christ to offer to this
dying world as we live out our 2011 Thematic Goal
scripture “Go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and
Holy Spirit…” Matthew 28:19. If you were not here,
please get a copy of the CD/DVD.
Our East campus has new colorful
outside banners and yard signs that will help us
“Attract” and bring more people to Christ each
week. Our outside banner signs will be displayed
on Sundays and our yard signs will be displayed
throughout the week in front of the Clark Opera
Memphis. Don’t forget to invite your family,
friends and co-workers who live in the eastern
part of the city to BLVD East each Sunday at
8:30AM.
I was interviewed for my book
“Preaching with Sacred Fire” and preached a sermon
on Trinity Broadcasting Network/WBUY TV (TBN) on
last Friday, March 25. The broadcast will be aired
this Friday, April 1 at 10:30AM on Comcast Basic
Cable Channel 10; Comcast Digital on Channel 11;
and Free Over Air Digital Signal
40.1.
Internationally renowned Dr. Allan
A. Boesak, an articulate, passionate, and gifted
orator and preacher, will be with us on Sunday,
April 3 at both campuses, and on
Monday, April 4. Monday will be a very special
evening as we remember the anniversary of the date
Martin Luther King Jr. was shot and killed in
Memphis. Dr. King fought for many liberties that
we still enjoy today. Dr. Boesak, who has also
fought for liberties, will be with us on Monday at
7:00PM. There is so much going on in our world
today that we should always be mindful of what is
happening everywhere, because you never know what
will come knocking at our own door. Don’t miss an
evening that is sure to be enlightening and
encouraging. Doors open at 6:00PM.
When I think of this week’s Lenten
Series focus, “The Body – The Practice of
Serving”, I think of Jesus who sacrificed his life
for us to have Eternal Life – freedom from bondage
that destroys souls, takes away hope leaving one
hopeless. Jesus’ life here on earth shows great
examples of how to face and overcome every trial
and tribulation. Let’s live out our Lenten Series
focus this week as we "Practice serving by giving
to someone when they least expect it”. Click here to view more
information.
