MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Dear Fellow Servant,

This week I am sending the news to you a little earlier than usual because it is a short week for most of you and for us at THE BLVD. The church offices will be closed Friday, April 2 in honor of Good Friday. We will reopen as scheduled for Saturday activities and of course we will be here Easter Sunday morning.

Thursday, April 1 is Maundy Thursday. We are moving our regularly scheduled Wednesday Mid-Week worship this week to Thursday in honor of Maundy Thursday. The worship service will be in the Martin Luther King (MLK) Seminar room on the second floor. It will begin at 7:00pm. It would be a wonderful expression of love for you to come out and worship with us this Thursday.

This week, we are also participating in a church-wide fast leading up to Easter Sunday. There were very few restrictions placed on the fast this year. The premise was to allow you to tailor the fast to fit your need. There were daily scriptures offered and tips. The fasting tips are on the Fanpage on Facebook. Below is a list of the daily scriptures. If you have not made the scriptures part of your daily reading, please be sure and read them moving forward.

Monday, March 29 – I Timothy 6:12 – 16

Tuesday, March 30 – 2 Corinthians 1:1 – 7

Wednesday, March 31 – 2 Corinthians 1:8 – 22

Thursday, April 1 – 2 Corinthians 1:23 – 2:11

Friday, April 2 – 1 Corinthians 10:14-17, 11:27 – 32

Saturday, April 3 – 1 Peter 1:10 – 20

Easter Sunday is Celebration Sunday for us and for the Christian world because He rose! I am asking each of you to please reach out to someone in your life who does not have a church home and invite them to yours. Go and tell somebody. Everyone may not be open to it, but someone will be if you ask. Easter presents a great opportunity for each of us to be fishers of men.  However, you can’t fish if you don’t cast the net!

A special note to all of you who participated in the 40 Days of Love Challenge. WE WANT TO KNOW about your journey. After worship service on Sunday in both locations we will have some volunteers in the lobby (Montgomery lobby at Midtown and the main lobby at THE BLVD East) to capture your testimonials and/or just a snapshot of you signifying that you survived 40 Days of Love. The pictures and video will be made available in upcoming weeks. It will also help us in planning future interactive sermon series.

Then, in just a few weeks after Easter we host our annual Umoja Celebration of Unity. This is another opportunity to reach out to others and invite them to THE BLVD. An invite is as simple as “Come.” Offer anyone you know the chance to see this great production. Go a step farther and offer someone who may not be able to afford it, a ticket. Tickets are less than the cost of a meal at some restaurants and the value is so much greater.

That’s it this week. Tune in to 15 Minutes of Faith with Dr. Frank Anthony Thomas, airing Wednesdays on 95.7 at 6pm. If you miss it, you can hear the replay weekly. Now let’s get ready to celebrate God’s love for us by continuing to show love to one another.

See you Thursday and Sunday.

DR. FRANK A. THOMAS Senior Servant
