MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Happy New Year,

I am counting on you to join us on Wednesday, December 31st for our New Year’s Eve worship service, at 7:00PM to 8:30PM (AN HOUR AND A HALF), as I close my sermon, on “The Advent Conspiracy”. Many people have told me that this sermon series has helped them “Worship Fully, Spend Less, Give More and Love All” during this season of our Lord’s birth. I was truly encouraged by the many people who indicated to me that they did not get caught up buying lots of gifts this Christmas. I also received encouragement from many blog comments like the one listed below:

Growing up at 38 | Fri, 12/26/2008 - 00:23

Pastor Thomas, I am a member of MBCC and I have learned a WHOLE lot in the past couple of years from all of your preaching and teachings. I tell myself all the time and my co workers that it is amazing how much I realize I am still learning and still growing the older I get. I have a 12 year and a 9 year that attend also and I try to make sure they understand the things I am learning under your leadership so they will be strong youths and adults and will understand life to the fullest and in a quicker way than I. I am understanding more about tithing and giving and 10/10/80. I am starting to take baby steps and building. The concert was awesome and Donnie was Great! His speaking hit home to also because there are some things in my life I am fighting with but if I will just listen and obey my God life will be simple. These are plans and to continue to listen and use the great advice you are giving in your sermons each Sunday. Obeying God can be a fun experience and I look forward to continuing my growth each and every day. At home, church and on the job. Thanks to all you do and I will continue to lift you and your family up in prayer and MBCC family also...thanks for your guidance.

Dear Growing Up at 38:

Pastor Frank | Fri, 12/26/2008 - 11:06

Thanks for your message and we all are growing up. I am growing up at 53. I am more convinced than ever that 10/10/80 is the way to go. I know God will bless you. God is blessing me. I had a fabulous Christmas and I did not overspend. I did not spend much at all. It was a real blessing -- the Advent Conspiracy was awesome. Thanks for listening. It makes the task so much easier when I know that people are listening and making application. Serve Is What I DO!

I am looking forward to reading your blog. Blog me at www.theblvdblog.org.

NEW SERMON SERIES

On January 4th, I will be starting a new sermon series called “CHANGE – WE CAN BELIEVE IN”. I know some of you will be making New Year’s resolutions (lose weight, save money, eat right, get fit, help others, read the Bible more, quit bad habits, etc.) soon. Why not make it easy on yourself and come discover how God will help you make needed CHANGES in your life? Click here for more information about our upcoming sermon and Bible study series.

Our Wednesday Night Worship service will resume on January 7, 2009. I am looking forward to our Extreme Makeover Church Wide Bible Study, which begins this Sunday, January 4th, at 8:30AM in the Fellowship Hall. This 4 week Church-Wide Bible Study (January) will be every Sunday at 8:30AM in the Fellowship Hall, and every Wednesday at 7:00PM in the MLK Seminar Room. We will discuss the life giving power of community. Bring your relatives and friends. This study will be a helpful way to work on our relationships. Remember, I’m expecting to see you each Sunday AND Wednesday in the month of January. We sold out of our Church-Wide Study books last Sunday, but we’ve ordered more which will be in this week if you still need to purchase yours. This Church-Wide Bible Adult Bible Study will be transformational, extreme, and intense; that’s why we’re calling it EXTREME MAKEOVER! I, along with Pastor Pitts, will be leading our entire church through the book, “Pursuing Spiritual Transformation: The life-giving power of community.” I want to see you there every Sunday AND Wednesday. We’re teaching a new topic each day. The Bookstore will be open on Sunday for you to purchase your book; the cost is $8.00. Click here to view book summary. I will be looking for you in January 2009!
