MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Dear Fellow Servants,

Sunday will be a fantastic day at THE BLVD!  We will continue our sermon series on the SIX MARKS OF DISCIPLESHIP with a focus on “Service”. If you’re looking for a way to put your Six Marks of Discipleship into action, begin with one of the upcoming Servant Projects listed in our below in our “News & Events” section.

Additionally, we will celebrate the ordination of Ministers Sonia Walker and Earle Fisher. They have prayerfully worked hard to achieve this momentous calling.

Our sister in Christ, Ms. Gail Jones Murphy (former minister of music) will join Dr. Leo H. Davis, Jr. and THE BLVD choirs in rendering melodious music that promises to bless and inspire us all.

Please remember to use your green envelope to contribute to our SERVANT FUND that helps support our outreach ministries—Manna, Emergency Assistance, Helping Hands and Hearts, Scholarships and Global Missions.  Give today and give generously. Click the video link below to learn more about the Servant Fund http://mbccmemphis.org/audio_video/S_Fund_NEW.wmv.

Many of us have been going through financial hell, or maybe you’re back from it and need guidance and education on what to do next.  I’m encouraging you to mark your calendars and attend our FINANCIAL FREEDOM II CONFERENCE, Saturday, June 14th from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.  Remember, last year’s first Financial Freedom Conference was a huge success.  Many of you demanded more financial education, so we’re delivering on our promise. There will be information on getting your credit straight, savings and wealth-building tips, avoiding predatory lending practices, and more.  The conference is FREE and open to the public.  The conference is FREE and open to the public.  So tell your family friends and neighbors and co-workers! To register, go online to http://mbccmemphis.org/files/eventsignup.asp. For details on workshops go to http://www.mbccmemphis.org/enew/Financial_Conference.pdf or stop by the Church Information Center (CIC). MARK YOUR CALENDARS!  On Sunday, June 8, 2008 during our 10 a.m. worship service, we will be blessed by the anointed ministry of the phenomenal DR. RUDOLPH W. McKISSICK JR., Senior Pastor ofBethel Baptist Institutional Church in Jacksonville, Florida.  In addition to his musical talents—first and foremost—he is a powerful messenger of God who has

established himself nationally as an outstanding preacher and teacher. He has been noted in The African American Pulpit as one of the “Twenty to Watch” and has had sermons published in several books and publications.

We will also be blessed by the music ministry of TINA WATSON of Chicago, Illinois. Ms. Watson was a member of the renowned Thompson Community Singers, under the direction of the late Rev. Milton Brunson. She is the voice of such songs as: "He Cares," "You Didn't Give Up On Me" and "I Really Love You Lord."

Have a great weekend! I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Serve Is What I Do,

Pastor Frank

STEWARDSHIP|

KROGER/SCHNUCKS’ CARDS – “LOAD BEFORE YOU SHOP!”

Thank you for your support of your church’s Kroger/Schnucks fundraising project.  To assist us with this on-going fundraiser we are looking for 160 members who are current Kroger/Schnucks card holders to partner with us to help us meet some specific fundraising goals.  What will they do?  You ask.

They will only have to do what they normally do – buy their groceries at Kroger and Schnucks and allow us, in a consistent and friendly manner, to remind them to load their Kroger/Schnucks card before they shop. The goal is to get at least 160 members who spend an average of $125 month on groceries at Kroger/Schnucks’ to allow us to remind them often to “Load Before They Shop”.  We believe the concentrated efforts of these 160 members spending the average amount listed above plus the spending power of the rest of our members that have Kroger/Schnucks’ cards, will yield us the desired funds we are seeking each month to meet our fundraising goal. The funds from this fundraiser coupled with your Servant Offering helps the church to support our various outreach ministries in a way in which all members can participate. We thank you for your support and want you to think about becoming a volunteer to be a partner with your church to help you remember to “Load Before You Shop.”  If interested, please contact Bettye Boone, 901.272.5650 for more details.

THE $20,000 SUNTRUST “MY CAUSE” CHALLENGE – WE ARE MAKING PROGRESS!!

For the last couple of weeks, we asked for 28 members to come forward to support the $20,000 SunTrust My Cause challenge. To date, five (5) people have opened an account to support Discipletown as their cause. To the new “MBCC My Cause” participants we say: THANK YOU! THANK YOU!  This brings our targeted number needed to succeed to 23.  We know that there are 23 people out there who are willing and able to make “Discipletown Your Cause” by opening an account and completing all the requirements to redeem the $100.  You can sign-up for an account at the church each Sunday through June 22, 2008 or you can go to any local SunTrust Bank to open up a checking account for $25 with no monthly fees.  The requirements are simple as follows:

·         Open a personal or business checking account and deposit $25 before June 29th

·         Accept the Visa Check (Debit) card and use it to make a purchase – no minimum purchase amount required

·         After your purchase, call 866.266.2802 or go online at www.suntrust.com/mycause then click “My Cause Redemption” to make your $100 redemption to Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church

We have met each target we set for this fundraiser and I know we will meet this latest challenge as well.  Therefore, those 23 members out there who are ready to help us meet the challenge COME ON DOWN – THE CAUSE IS RIGHT!   If you have any question, contact Bettye Boone at 901.272.5650.
