MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Dear Fellow Servant,

No matter how much you love someone, you can never love as much as God loved.  Think about that.  In this season as we reflect on the things God did so that we could live, it should be sufficient enough for you to rejoice right now as you are reading this note.  His sacrifices and suffering was for us.  We should live with this precious gift in mind not just during the 40 Days of Love but every day.

In this Lenten season we are recognizing His sacrifice by committing to a church-wide fast beginning this Monday, March 29, 2010 through Saturday, April 3, 2010.  For those six days, we are asking you to search your heart and fast in accordance to what God lays on your heart whether it is refraining from caffeine, sweets, shopping, television, certain beverages or other hard-to-do-without things.  In the 40 Days of Love journal we offer some tips for fasting.  You can also visit THE BLVD (Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church) Facebook Fanpage to get the list of fasting tips found under the Discussion tab. Not a fan?  You can join anytime for FREE!

This Sunday, March 28 at THE BLVD we are taking up the banner for children.  Our focus is Child Advocacy and we are donning blue ribbons and blue color accents.  If you believe that there is work to be done to provide protection and security for all children, we ask that you join us.  The Word this Sunday is from I Corinthians 13:7.  There is a message for you if you receive it.

As a side note I want to encourage you to please fill out your Census and mail it.  There appears to be skepticism in the African American community about the Census and the government’s use of the information.  I encourage you to complete it.  The results of the Census will help determine how more than $400 billion in federal funds are allocated annually.  If you are not counted, you run the risk of not receiving what is due to you and your neighbors when it comes to schools, health care, job training centers, senior care, roads, parks, and representation in some instances.  Don’t believe the hype.  It is ten easy questions.  It takes minutes and makes a difference.

You know what else is easy and also involves the number 10? Umoja tickets!  Yes I am reminding you to please support THE BLVD’s annual cultural experience.  Purchase a ticket for someone else in your community and allow them to experience the great things happening at THE BLVD.  Give a ticket as a thank you to someone who offers services to you regularly (yard work, plumbing, mail carrier, beautician, etc.) Tickets are available all week at THE BLVD Midtown and on Sundays at THE BLVD East and are only $10 for a limited time.  Let’s sell out this year every night!

I am getting some feedback from listeners now of our newest radio program, 15 Minutes of Faith with Dr. Frank Anthony Thomas, airing Wednesdays on 95.7 at 6pm. If you missed it, you can hear the replay. As we close out our first quarter, I would love to know what you think.  Take a moment and listen this week or pull up past programs.  Then drop me an email or call us with your feedback.

See you Sunday.
