Dear
Fellow Servant:
First,
I want to thank you for being so flexible,
understanding and cooperative as we continue to
move from “Mediocrity
to Greatness for God” with our Sanctuary
Painting Renovation Project. It is my desire to
keep everyone abreast of our progress so we can
all move together. Our Sanctuary Painting
Renovation Project has been on schedule and it
has gone extremely well over the last few
weeks.
But
as you know, there are things that will come up
that you have no control over. On Sunday, you
will notice that there is no covering on the
pipe organ panels behind the pulpit. The
material we ordered for the panels were too
sheer and did not present a professional uniform
look. We re-ordered the specialized fabric from
a company that is in an area affected by
Hurricane Irene and is temporarily closed. We
will finish this phase of our Sanctuary
Renovation Project within the next few
days!
Our
N3 Conference is my focus for this weekend and
next week. If you have not read yesterday’s
Special eNews, please read it; it will give you
information to share and encourage your family,
friends and co-workers to come out to our
spiritually empowered conference. Please click here to see our
latest N3 Conference video and forward the video
web link to everyone. Sunday,
August, 28 through Wednesday, August 31, I will
be looking for you!
As
many of you know, I am a member of the Citizens
Editorial Board of the Commercial Appeal. I
agreed that the Citizen’s Editorial Board and
Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church would
partner together and hold a community forum on
the movie “The Help.” On September 6, we are
inviting the entire Memphis community to a
discussion about the move “The Help” in our
Sanctuary from 6:30PM to 8:00PM. We will feature
several perspectives on a panel, and then have
community discussion. Memphis is the number one
market for the movie in the country and we
believe this movie has struck an important chord
in our community. The Citizen’s Editorial Board
believes that this discussion would help to
promote unity and understanding in our city and
county. You will hear coverage in the Commercial
Appeal and throughout our church. Please invite
your friends. If you have not already, go see
the movie with a friend and invite them to the
discussion. A great time will be had by
all.
See
you Sunday,

MONEY
MATTERS
It’s
become an all-too-familiar headline – lay-offs and furloughs,
falling housing prices and rising consumer debt, declining retail
sales and increasing costs of living. Money – and the lack of it –
is a source of stress and frustration. And while people the world
over are working to stem the global financial situation we’re in,
folks at home are trying to gain some control over their own
financial situations, too. The Bible teaches us that “the people
perish because of a lack of knowledge.” Practicing positive, tried
and true money management techniques – and learning how to recognize
and avoid some “ripped from the headlines” consumer scams and
rip-offs – can help you weather tough economic times. Begin today to
educate yourself and your family about financial matters. The
Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection
agency, created the website (Money Matters) to help you tackle some
money issues head-on. Visit
their website to learn more about managing your money
and various scams designed to separate you from your
money. |
