Dear Fellow Servant:

It has been over 19 years since we upgraded our Midtown sanctuary and vestibule. But, we are now moving from “Mediocrity to Greatness for God” with our Midtown Sanctuary Renovation Project. Our painting project that included our sanctuary, vestibule and hallways surrounding the sanctuary were successfully completed last month. We are about 90% complete placing sound reinforcement panels and fabric that covers the organ pipes behind the pulpit. We began another major renovation facelift this week by removing our sanctuary entrance/exit wood doors. We will replace these doors and the wood pull down lobby panels with tempered solid glass. In the meantime, we have temporarily placed black material to cover each door area until our new custom glass doors are designed and installed. I realize that our Sanctuary Renovation Project may cause some minor inconvenience; but again, I am asking for your support and thanking you for being so flexible and cooperative.

BLVD East’s second year anniversary celebration continues this Sunday with national recording artist Kirk Whalum at our 8:30AM worship service at Clack Opera Memphis, located at 6745 Wolf River Parkway (at Kirby). As we continue to move our East campus forward more volunteers are needed on Sunday mornings, click here to watch the video for more information.

A special Congregation Meeting will be held immediately after service at our Midtown location this Sunday, September 25. The purpose of this meeting is to inform you of the demolition of the Lee Chapel scheduled to begin on Monday, September 26. I would appreciate your cooperation in staying for this meeting.

Our planning for our 90th Founders’ Day is moving forth. It’s going to be “A Celebration of 90 Years of Word, Worship and Work!” Our kick-off on Saturday, November 5 starts with a congregation and community carnival filled with fun, food, and fellowship, followed by a Black-Tie Gala on Friday, November 11 and concluding on Sunday, November 13 with singing, preaching and praising God. Rev. Dr. Alvin O’Neal Jackson will be our preacher for two worship services (7:45AM and 10:00AM) at our Midtown location.  Last Sunday, I received a good report on Pastor Dan’s sermon. In addition to a powerful sermon, praise filled the Sanctuary and Dr. Davis taught a new war cry step. Praise God for His outpouring! Share with your family and friends about THE BLVD’s worship, ministries and activities; and let them know THE BLVD is the place to be on Sundays.  God has been too good to us for us not to tell somebody.

PRAYER AND FASTING

STEPHEN MINISTRY SERVICE

As THE BLVD prepares for its 90th Anniversary Celebration, we want to recognize our members who have been a part of THE BLVD for 50+ years. THE BLVD PREPARES TO CELEBRATE ITS 90TH

It’s time to celebrate our 90th Anniversary beginning Saturday, November 5 with a congregational and community carnival. Friday, November 11 we will celebrate with a “Black Tie” gala and conclude our celebration on Sunday, November 13 with two (7:45AM and 10:00AM) worship services at the Midtown Campus with guest Pastor, Dr. Alvin O’Neal Jackson. Each Sunday stop by the Welcome Center at the East Campus and the CIC at the Midtown Campus to pick up a sponsorship packet. Bettye Boone will available at the Midtown Campus. A Representative will be available at the East Campus.

DEMOLITION OF LEE CHAPEL

The Church Council will hold a special Congregational Informational meeting immediately after service on Sunday, September 25 in the Sanctuary. The congregation will be provided information on the demolition of Lee Chapel, which is to begin Monday, September 26.

THE BLVD EAST CELEBRATES TWO YEARS

THE BLVD East’s celebration continues with Family Night Out, Friday, September 23, 6:00PM – 8:00PM, Cordova Bowling Center, 7945 Club Center Cove in Cordova. The cost is $10 per person; bowling, shoes, and dinner included.

SISTERS IN MOTION 5K RUN/WALK

Sisters In Motion presents its Second Annual 5K Run/Walk benefiting Christ Community Health Services, Saturday, September 24, beginning at 9:00AM. Register online or call 901.210.2003 for more information.

SOCIAL CONCERNS COMMISSION: WALK FOR THE HOMELESS

THE BLVD Social Concerns Commission is excited to announce its annual walk sponsored by the Community Alliance for the Homeless, Inc. The event is October 1, 8:00AM – 12:00PM. Theme: “Walk to End Homelessness—NOW.” In support of the event, we are encouraging THE BLVD members to participate in the 5K walk. We need approximately 30 volunteers to assist. Volunteer needs include hospitality booth, cheerleaders, registration, T-shirt and door prizes distribution. Please sign up in the Montgomery Lobby after worship service on September 25. MEN’S COOK-OFF

Calling All Men of THE BLVD! It’s time to whip up your tastiest dish for this year’s cook-off, Sunday, October 30. 2012 WOMEN’S RETREAT

The Chosen Vessels Women’s Ministry is hosting its first retreat for the year 2012 on Saturday, February 25. Make plans to attend this glorious day of worship, fellowship, and spiritual growth. Rev. Dr. Joyce Thomas and Pamela Mason and the planning team are putting together an anointed program.

WATSA

Wholistic Approach To Substance Abuse is a Christ-centered recovery support group for addictions, co-dependency and compulsive behavior. Meetings are Tuesdays at 6:00PM in 04N.
