Dear Fellow Servant, Where did September go? I looked around and
the month was almost over. Now with only days
left, we are on the countdown to Christmas. Not now, but soon you
will hear all about this year’s Christmas Concert. Until then here’s
what’s happened, is happening and will happen at THE
BLVD. Last weekend if you missed the Church-wide
Consecration event, you truly missed a treat. In the weeks to come,
you will have the opportunity to hear more details about the
weekend and the Destiny Shaping Questions presented. Today I wanted to just
take a moment and thank everyone who attended. I realize that
weekends are treasured and the fact that you shared yours with
THE BLVD is appreciated. So again, thank
you. Thursday night, September 24th, at 7PM,
I am speaking at the Church Health Center’s Hope & Healing
public forum. The
subject is the role of religion and spiritual leadership in
health care reform.
The panel features several prominent local leaders
including Rev. Gary Gunderson, author of several books on
community health; Dr. Rick Donlon, director of Christ
Community Health Services, which serves the poor and
uninsured; Dr. Kenneth Robinson, pastor of St. Andrew’s AME
Church and County Health Officer for the Memphis and Shelby
County Health Department; and Renee Frazier, executive
director of the Healthy Memphis Common Table. I invite you to join
us not only because your pastor will be there, but because
there will be information shared that can benefit you and your
family. The

Center facility is located at 1115 Union Ave. I would love to have
some BLVD representation. Sunday, September 27th marks the
beginning of a new era at Mississippi Boulevard Christian
Church and I could not be more excited. For the first time in
our history, we will officially be one church in two
locations. It is an awesome opportunity and of course with
every great opportunity comes great responsibility. As with
any birth, the hard work begins after the fact. Invite your friends,
family members and co-workers. Please continue to pray
for growth, watch for opportunities and spread the word about
THE BLVD East so that new people may find
Christ. Finally, I ask that you check your calendar and
mark it to attend the Annual Church Family Picnic, Saturday,
October 3rd in DeSoto Park (Metalvent Museum) from
10AM until 5PM.
The planning team has worked so hard to make this a
special day for all servants of THE BLVD and I am asking you
to plan on attending.
October sounds like it’s far off but like I said in the
beginning, September is almost over. Sign up this Sunday at
the Midtown campus directly following worship service in the
Bellevue Lobby.

PRAYER
REQUESTS THE BLVD Prayer Ministries would like to partner
with you to make your requests known unto God: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in

ANNUAL CHURCH FAMILY
PICNIC Our
Annual Church Family Picnic is on Saturday, October
3rd, from 10:00AM to 5:00PM at Desoto Park, near
the Metal Museum (same location as last year).
We will have another great time with lots of
food, fellowship and fun. Bring
your blankets, lawn/folding chairs, card tables, softball
gloves, insect repellent, personal fans, or whatever will make
you comfortable (i.e. sunglasses, comfortable clothing/shoes,

ANGEL TREE The
men of MBCC are adopting Angel Tree as their Christmas
ministry. Angel Tree supports children who have an
incarcerated parent. All men are asked to donate $25 to the
Angel Tree Christmas Project, which will allow us to provide
gifts for over 100 children this year. Please visit the Men’s
Ministry-Angel Tree table in front of the bookstore for more

OF WORSHIP REHEARSAL SCHEDULE The
Women
of Worship
are preparing for Breast Cancer Awareness, Sunday, October
11th at THE BLVD Midtown. We are looking for a
minimum of 150
women to join us in song. Please note the following
rehearsal dates: Monday, September
28th at 6:30PM, Monday, October 5th,
6:30PM and Saturday, October 10th, 11:00AM. All
rehearsals will convene in the Adult Choir Room M206. For

TOUR BUS The AARP/Walgreen’s
Wellness Tour Bus will be in the Memphis Area starting
September 24th. The bus will park on the Bellevue
lot at THE BLVD October 4th from 8:30AM – 2:30PM.
The wellness bus provides free
screenings valued at $140 to anyone who visits the
bus. The health screening includes blood glucose, body mass
index, blood pressure, cholesterol, bone density and waist

SICKEL CELL AWARENESS MONTH September
is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month and
we are experiencing a serious blood shortage. You can help by
stopping by Life Blood this week and donate blood on behalf of
MBCC. You must be 17 years or older, weigh at least 110 pounds
and in reasonably good health. For additional information on Sickle Cell

AWARENESS October
is National Brest Cancer Awareness Month. Join us at THE BLVD
Midtown for our “Pink Sunday” Worship Service at 10:000AM
Sunday, October 11th. We will celebrate *cancer
survivors in our BLVD Family and honor/remember those who have
passed on. Remember to “Think Pink” and wear pink on October
11th in support of Cancer Awareness. Keep your eyes
and ears open for more information. BLVD cancer survivors who
would like to participate in our “Visions of Victory” photo

Diaconate training has started for High School & Middle

who regularly attend Bible Study at THE BLVD are invited. This
is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn service
