MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Dear Fellow Servants,

SUNDAY’S WORSHIP SERVICE SHOULD NOT BE MISSED!  Please get to church on time—10AM or before—to receive the blessing that God wants to give you through this awesome worship experience.  I’m so excited!  We’re launching our brand new series, THE SEARCH FOR OZ: THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS WITHIN YOU, Luke 17:20-21 .  Like the characters in “The Wizard of Oz” or “The Wiz”, you’ve been searching outside of yourself for wisdom, courage, love, acceptance, a safe dwelling place…well, search no more!  God has already placed within you everything you need and desire.  This series has lived with me for more than a year now.  The time has come, and I’m waiting with eager anticipation to bring forth what God has given me to share with you.

Each week, you’ll experience creative worship as you’ve never experienced it before.  As you know, we love to interpret God’s Word through he arts—music, dance, and drama.  There will be a special dance by MBCC member, Adea Sessoms who is currently a student at the University of the Arts inPhiladelphia, PA.  That’s all I’m allowed to reveal.  You’ll have to come on Sunday to receive the full blessing that God has in store for you!  If you’ve never seen “The Wizard of Oz” or “The Wiz”, rent or purchase the DVD today!

SIGN UP FOR BIBLE STUDY CLASSES

It is imperative that you sign up for a Bible Study class. If you were in worship service last Sunday, I spoke about the importance of having “Word in Your Well” (Genesis 26:12-22). God requires that we study and apply His Word so that we are prepared for times of famine.

I WILL TRUST IN GOD AGAIN

“I Will Trust in God Again” (Proverbs 3:5-6) is the focus for our current MIDWEEK SERVICE every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the MLK Room, as well as for our FALL FESTIVAL OF PREACHING, September 22 – 24 at 7PM nightly. The guest preacher for all three nights will be Dr. Ralph D. West, Pastor and Founder of The Church Without Walls in Houston, Texas. Click here to view special videos for “I Will Trust in God Again”.

A new addition to the Festival of Preaching will be a special youth and children's worship service on Wednesday, September 24th at 7PM. Also, limited childcare will available, so bring the whole family and invite friends! There's something great in store for everyone.

If you are an aspiring artist, accomplished artist or maybe you love to sing praises to God, join V. MICHAEL MCKAY for an exclusive workshop/rehearsal at 6PM each night of the Fall Festival of Preaching. Yolanda Adams, Tramaine Hawkins and Albertina Walker have all recorded his songs. This one-time opportunity is open to the Memphis community. This special community choir will sing each night during the worship services. For more information call 901.729.6222.

Thank you for your prayers as Joyce and I traveled to South Africa for a wellness conference.  Joyce did a phenomenal job with her workshop, as well as the Sunday sermon with more than 3,000 people in attendance.  I was so proud to be her armor bearer, supporting and uplifting her as she walked into this new season of ministry.  To God be the glory!

Mark your calendars for important activities and service opportunities below! Please forward our eNews to your family and friends so that they are aware of what’s happening at THE BLVD. Also, invite them to spend Sunday with you in worship service.

With a Servant’s Heart,

Pastor Frank

KROGER/SCHNUCKS FUNDRAISING ACTIVITY

In last week’s E-news we indicated that we had raised $3500 from the combined Kroger and Schnucks’ re-loadable card fundraising activity. Again, we thank you for your faithfulness in loading and re-loading your Kroger and Schnucks’ cards. This activity has been underway for seven (7) months with us averaging about $500 per month. We believe with your help and assistance, we can raise this monthly amount to $800 or more per month. We can accomplish this goal through our combined efforts by during the following:

v Continuing to believe God for the success of this program.

v Contacting current cardholders using email or regular mail to remind them to take their card with them and load the card before shopping.

v Issuing cards to those who do not have them.

v Issuing new cards to current cardholders whose current card is no longer usable

v Re-emphasizing the importance of this fundraiser to members of the congregation

This fundraising activity benefits the ministries of our future leaders, children and youth. Whatever we can do today to help their tomorrow is effort worth doing. Therefore, we believe that with the help of God and the continued faithfulness of our congregation, the current $500 per month will be increased $800 and more. If you do not have a MBCC authorized Kroger or Schnucks’ card, get one on Sunday or come by the church during the week to get your card so you can start loading and re-loading your card. Thanks again for your support!

$20,000 CHALLENGE – KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK – WE ARE GETTING THERE

Thank you so much for coming forward to meet our $20,000 “My Cause” challenge.  One more person came forward so we are now down to needing only nine (9) people to make this goal a reality for our children and youth programs.  We are definitely getting close. So, again if you have not joined in on the fun, you still have time to do so. Please

visit our SunTrust Bank table on Sunday to complete an application for a checking account or business account or you can visit any SunTrust bank to open an account.  The Lord continues to bless us so we know the goal is reachable and achievable.  So join with other MBCC members who have opened accounts to make our children and youth ministries their cause.  The process is simple.  The rewards are great!

NEW YOUTH LEADERSHIP MEETINGS SCHEDULE

In an effort to help conserve travel expenses during the week and develop a more Biblically based youth ministry, student leadership of the MBCC Youth Department will NOW have official leadership meetings on Sunday Morning as part of their regularly scheduled Bible Study at 8:30 am in Room 08A. In fact, all high school youth from 9th to 12th grade are welcome and expected. However, Bible Study & Leadership meetings on Sunday are mandatory to all youth leaders. In the event youth need more time to prepare for ministry activities such as skits, etc., they may be asked to come on another day such as Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday as needed.

The Women's Ministry invites girls grades 9th-12th to join the Jendayi E’she Rites of Passage Ministry. We are currently looking for young ladies interested in learning more about themselves and how they fit in God’s master plan. Through this 3 month journey we will explore: spirituality, self, relationships, and personal history. There will also be a group Bible study, service projects, and field trips. Due to space, only a limited number of young ladies can participate. Sign up today after church. Deadline for sign up is Sunday, September 7th. For more information come to the table after church or email Pastor Virzola Law (901.272.5603).

RITES OF PASSATE (ROP): YOUNG MEN AND ADULT MENTORS

No young man will be left behind! We will convene this Saturday, August 23rd at 9:00 am-12:00 pm in the MLK Room. We need the presence of Adult Males and past “Rites Of Passage” participants to join in this year’s ROP process as Mentors and Guide Brothers respectively.
