Dear Fellow Servant,                                                      

If you missed last Sunday I have to say you missed a huge measure of God’s favor and generosity.  Click here to see the testimony from member Angela Moody that aired Sunday.  Each Sunday during the current sermon series, Life in the Key of G, we are presenting examples of great and wonderful things that lead us to living a life of Generosity.  We started with Grace and Sunday we covered Gifts.  This upcoming Sunday our “G” word is Giving. 

Sunday is the 4th Sunday.  Historically, the 4th Sunday in many churches is the Sunday members decide to stay home.  If you were here last Sunday you know we kicked off our “A Little Bit More” Movement which included giving a little bit more in tithes, offerings, service and  coming to church a little bit more.  Start this Sunday.  Make up your mind that this Sunday you will not let anything separate you from the house of the Lord!  I’m not supposed to talk about it but there is a special surprise in store.  I can’t tell you who these special guests are but I can tell you that they will be performing exclusively at THE BLVD East and THE BLVD Midtown and no other place in Memphis this Sunday!  

Before I move forward to events coming up, I want to take a moment and congratulate the recently ordained Reverends Carla Norton, Kimberly Johnson and Kenneth Brown.  They accepted their call to ministry and are putting action on their spiritual gifts by making leadership in the ministry a vocation.  My prayer is that they will continue to follow God’s word and His way. 

THE BLVD East will meet at the Hilton on Sunday, May 30.  The location temporarily changes but the time (8:30am) and the awesome worship remain the same!  Make plans to meet us at the Hilton located at 936 Ridge Lake Blvd. 

May is almost gone.  June will bring an end to the What To Do When You Don’t Know What To Do Wednesday night series.  In June we will kick off our Sons & Daughters of THE BLVD Family Reunion.  Each Wednesday night at 7pm, we present a dynamic preacher that you don’t want to miss.  Make plans to be at THE BLVD Midtown in June.  If you can’t be in the sanctuary live you can always join us on line by clicking on the “Live Streaming” button on our website (www.theblvd.org).

Feel free to catch 15 Minutes of Faith every Wednesday night on 95.7 Hallelujah FM at 6pm and if you miss it, you can hear the replay on our website at any time.

Before I close I want to say that we are still praying for those affected by the recent floods in this area.  If you know of a church member who has been affected please have them contact Pastor Law at 901.272.5603.

STEPHEN MINISTRY

Stephen Ministry Classes begin Sunday, June 6. If you feel called to minister to persons in crisis or distress, contact Pastor Virzola Law at 901.272.5603 or Reverend Sheilah Easterling-Smith at 901.516.5617. In-depth training is available at a cost of $50, which includes books and class materials. Interested persons may sign up after worship May 23 and 30.

 

ON THE ROAD AGAIN (THE BLVD EAST AT HILTON)

Sunday, May 30 THE BLVD East will again meet at the Hilton hotel located at 936 Ridge Lake Blvd. Please come and enjoy a powerful Word of God in a very pleasant atmosphere. Worship service is at 8:30am in the Southeast Ballroom located on the lower level.

 

THE FAITH-FILLED FIVE LIVE AT THE BLVD

THE BLVD welcomes five anointed preachers back home in June for our Annual Sons & Daughters of THE BLVD Family Reunion. Each Wednesday night at 7:00pm beginning June 2 come out and enjoy a powerful message that is sure to bless your soul and revive your spirit. Rev. Thomas Murray (June 2), Dr. Cozette Garrett (June 9), Pastor Dan Henley (June 16), Min. Jason Pearson (June 23) and Rev. Gene Lawson (June 30).

 

PASTORAL CARE MINISTRY: PROJECT INSPIRIT

THE BLVD Pastoral Care Ministry in partnership with the University of Memphis is implementing Project INSPIRIT, a study on faith and spirituality during the grieving process. For more details, stop by the Information Desk at THE BLVD East, and the Project INSPIRIT Table in the Montgomery lobby at THE BLVD Midtown following Sunday worship.

 

SHORT-TERM STUDY

AUTOMATIC DEPOSIT PROGRAM (ADP)

Do you want to make sure your church gets your tithes and offerings even when you are absent? If so, sign-up today for the church’s ADP. Please visit the ADP sign-up table in the Montgomery lobby after Sunday worship to ensure that your gift continues while you are away.

 

SERVICE PROJECT

October 2010 will be coined as our month of service at THE BLVD. If you are interested in developing an all church service project and service projects around town, contact Pastor Denise Bell at 901.272.5605.

 

ADULT SCHOLARSHIP

Are you working on a new career path and considering further education? Have you started school and funding is holding up your progress? THE BLVD cares about you. We invite you to fill out an adult application packet and submit it by the May 30 deadline. Pick up an application packet from the CIC. WOMEN’S MINISTRY BLESSING BOXES

THE BLVD Midtown Women’s Ministry Blessing Boxes is a National Disciples of Christ (DOC) Women's ministry project that supports missions at home and overseas. Ladies, if you save coins, Blessing Boxes Ministry needs your help. Gather your change and bring it to the Midtown CIC after Sunday worship during the month of May. MJ Cooper will be available to receive donations. During the week, MJ will receive donations after 5:30pm.

THE BLVD celebrates four extraordinary women recognized by the Tri-State Defender as 2010 Women of Excellence. We celebrate our own Linda Carter (Managing Director, Human Resources Support and Diversity for FedEx Express), Hughetta Dudley (President and CEO if Stragistics Technology, Inc.), Sally Johnson (Owner of Sally’s Hair Gallery and President of the Tennessee Beauticians Association), and Sharon Johnson Wheeler, Ph.D. (Director of Advancement Services, Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation). MBCC SUMMER INSTITUTE FOR AGES 12 – 18

The 2nd Annual UMOJA Summer Youth Institute for ages 12 – 18 starts June 1. Register your students today to participate in this fun filled 8-week institute. Students will be developed in Leadership, Performing Arts, Diversity, Health and Fitness. The cost is only $200 per student for the entire summer. WOW! VISITATION AND BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY
