MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD
CHRISTIAN CHURCH |
| |
|
Dear
Fellow Servant,
We Are Back! I cannot
tell you how absolutely inspiring, reviving and uplifting it
is to visit Africa. It’s almost as if words are not meant to
convey or express the significance of such an amazing journey.
If you ever have the opportunity to travel to Africa in your
life I say TAKE IT and take it all in. More than that, store
up some of the atmosphere for days when you need a little bit
more to make it! I know I’m right about it!
As
happy as being in the Motherland made me, I am thankful to be
back in my city, with my family and my church. And as Pastor
Janae Pitts-Murdock said on Sunday, “I am glad to be back IN
THE HOUSE”. Wasn’t this series a sizzling one? I hope you got
something out of Seven Deadly Sins that made a difference in
your life beyond the worship service. Again, special thanks to
my preaching pastors, Pastor Janae, Pastor Neko and Pastor
Reggie for the awesome job they did with the series in my
absence. I told you I would leave you in capable hands and I
believe I did!
The
next stop is on the Next Level! The Next Level… New Me… No
Limits! N3 Conference 2010 is August 30 – September 1 with
special guest preacher, Bishop Rudolph W.
McKissick, Jr. If you haven’t already told your friends
and family about it, you have just about two weeks to pass it
on. Don’t miss out on three nights of power-packed praise,
worship, empowerment and dinner. There are activities for
youth and children nightly including a PRAIZE Party Wednesday
night and a Teen Track. Dinner begins at 5:15PM,
Empowerment Sessions begin at 6:10PM and worship begins at 7:00PM. Make
reservations for dinner immediately following worship service
at both campuses on Sunday. Dinner is $1 per person for up to
five and $5 for families of five or more. Advance registration
is requested for the sessions and reservations for dinner.
Register after worship at both locations on Sunday or
right now online. Sign up to attend one
session only. The subject of that particular session is
taught in three parts and spreads over three
nights.
And
it doesn’t stop there because the Sunday immediately following
the N3 Conference, we kick off our next sermon series. Baggage Check the series
begins Sunday September 5. The summer will be over but the
sizzle continues. This honest and transparent series takes a
look at the things in all of our lives that we allow to weigh
us down; baggage that we carry unnecessarily and God’s
guilt-free fearless answer that conquers even the deepest
scars, hurt and pain. It is time that we free ourselves of the
oversized baggage! We are checking baggage Sundays at 8:30 AM
at THE BLVD East and 10:00AM at THE BLVD Midtown and online at
www.theblvd.org at
10:00AM.
Have
I mentioned that I have a new book? I am so excited about Preaching With Sacred
Fire. This book has afforded me the opportunity to
bring together in one collection some of the greatest African
American preachers in our history from 1750 to the present.
This book will bless your life and help you see how the pulpit
played a major role in shaping American history. I will be
hosting a few book signing events in Memphis and at THE BLVD.
Stay tuned for the details.
Finally,
in closing I want to share with you a portion of a note we
received from a parent regarding our school supply drive. She
wrote:
Thank you so very much for
supplying my daughter with ALL of her school supplies and for
continually being a spiritual lighthouse to my shipwrecked
soul. As a long time member of MBCC, I am grateful and humbled
by the examples of Christian discipleship displayed by fellow
members.
You
never know what your generosity may mean to the next person.
That is why we should always strive to live and give
generously. Thank you Mississippi Boulevard for your kindness
and your service to people in need in our
community.
God
bless you. I love
you and I will see you Sunday!
