Sunday we celebrated Founders Day at THE BLVD with one amazing
worship service for both our East and our Midtown campus. My
personal thanks to all of you for coming out and celebrating
with us. I was fresh from Israel and as you know there is a
huge time difference. I was a little worried about how it
would affect me but your spirit lifted me! Sunday was a
success all around. We had an awesome worship service. The
Business Expo that followed was phenomenal and the world got a
chance to learn just a little bit more about us through the
Commercial Appeal article that ran on Sunday. If you did not
get an opportunity to read the article you can read it in its

here. Sunday,
we also kicked off our Generosity: Pass It
On Sermon Series that will take us through the end of the
year. I know there was a lot going on Sunday so let me
reiterate here. Between now and the end of the year we want to
record 5000 Good
Deeds on our Good Deeds Wall at both BLVD locations. Don’t
think this means you have to go out and save the world. Just
do something out of the ordinary that is generous for someone
else and let us know about it. We have three ways of
recording your good deeds: 1. Place on the wall of 5000
Good Deeds (in the sanctuary at THE BLVD Midtown and in the
lobby at THE BLVD East) 2. Post on our Facebook

is just waiting to hear from you. If you do anything, great or
small for someone you don’t know, we want to
know! By
now, I hope you have heard that we are having Lalah Hathaway as our
special guest artist for Holidays at THE BLVD,
Sunday, December 12 at 4:00PM (doors open at 3:00PM). We
are very excited for that and because the concert this year is
absolutely FREE to the public. We wanted to make this a family
friendly event where cost was not an issue for those who could
not normally afford it. The concert is free admission but
there are still costs attached to putting on a concert at this
level of excellence. To offset the cost, we depend on our
sponsors and donors. We introduced a new level of sponsorship
this year at $25. This means for as little as $25 you can be a
sponsor of this great event and receive a reserved seat at the
concert. When the doors open at 3:00PM, sponsors will be
escorted to their reserved seats with no waiting in the
general admission line. If you are interested in becoming a

RECEIVES EXCELLENCE IN EVANGELISM AWARD Congratulations to THE BLVD! The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ in the United States and Canada) awarded Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church with the Excellence in Evangelism Award (2009). We were chosen because we showed 157 baptisms and 425 new members for the year landing us in the top ten percent of congregations our size. HOLIDAYS AT THE
BLVD CHRISTMAS CONCERT Holidays at THE BLVD is Sunday, December 12 at 4:00PM featuring special guest, gospel, jazz and R&B artist Lalah Hathaway, daughter of the late great Donny Hathaway. This year’s concert features our phenomenal Sanctuary Choir and THE BLVD Instrumental Ensemble with guest soloists, Bishop Yvette Flunder and Stefanie Bolton, along with The Collage Dance Collective. COMMITTEE REPORT The Nominating Committee Congregational Report is now available in the Church Information Center (CIC) at THE BLVD Midtown, the Information Desk at THE BLVD East and on our website. This report includes the slate of officers and leaders nominated to serve the congregation for 2011. The approval of 2011 officers and leaders will take place at our Annual Congregation Meeting on December 6 at 6:00PM at THE BLVD Midtown. DECORATING THE
BOULEVARD Holidays at THE BLVD are swiftly approaching and we want to create an atmosphere that reflects the holiday celebration. We are decorating THE BLVD Midtown the week of November 29 – December 3 (10:00AM – 3:00PM).
