MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Dear Fellow Servant,

On any given Sunday there are 13 million more adult women than men in America’s churches.

(Barna’s male/female worship study overlaid upon US Census)

Let’s do our part to change that statistic this Sunday because this Sunday, June 20th, is Father’s Day. Bring your dad, your husband, male friend and family members to church with you. Let’s get some Jesus in us first before we hit the restaurants and outdoor grills!

Last Sunday was Graduation and Scholarship Sunday at THE BLVD. We acknowledged high school and college graduates at both campuses and recognized our scholarship recipients. Congratulations to our graduates and all of our scholarship recipients who will be attending universities around the country. As I stated Sunday to all who were present, whatever you do and wherever you go, be sure to take Jesus with you. Stay in the Word, stay connected with a Christian church and to the Jesus in you.

I have had a few people ask me about the book I mentioned. It is called Scarred by Struggle, Transformed by Hope by Joan D. Chitterster. The phrase from the book I mentioned in worship was simply:

It isn’t true that the loss of any single thing will destroy everything…It is only the matter of being detached enough from one thing to be open to everything else.

I am so very grateful that our youth and children did a phenomenal job on Sunday via the Voices of Triumph and Angels of Praise, thanks to the leadership of Jeffrey Murdock and Wendy Baker. Excellent job ministering in song, praise and worship.

Wednesdays this month we have been blessed with some powerful and anointed pastors during our Faith Filled Five Sons and Daughters Family Reunion. I encourage you to come and be blessed with a message that will give you that extra boost to get through the rest of the week. This Wednesday, June 23 we are welcoming Minister Jason Pearson.

The summer heat is upon us! Here are three summer points I want you to remember:

Point #1: Please be mindful of the babies and the elderly. Don’t leave the children in the car for any reason in the heat…not even for a minute. Please check on the elderly in your community and make sure that they have sufficient air. The city has air conditioned centers opened until 8PM that are free to the public.

Point #2: Our upcoming summer sermon series, Seven Deadly Sins, promises to be one of the most sizzling series yet. We must recognize the vices in order to overcome them. In this sermon series you will learn how to gain your independence from the Seven Deadly Sins. The series begins appropriately on Independence Day, Sunday July 4 at both campuses.

Point #3: We are in full casual dress mode for the summer. Dress appropriately casual now through August.

I look forward to seeing you and the men in your life this Sunday!
