Dear
Fellow Servant, Just in case you haven’t
heard, God is doing some powerful and amazing things at THE
BLVD! And
just in case you have not been in the house lately, I, as your
pastor, advise you to make it your business to come and bask
in the blessings that He is raining down on us! All around the
country, September is considered “Back to Church” month. If you haven’t invited
someone you know to worship before, you should do it now. At THE BLVD, we didn’t
wait until September to experience the presence of the
Lord. However,
there is no better time than now to join in our
celebration!
Invite a friend or family member to worship with you
and watch how your life and theirs is changed. Speaking
of change, we have made another positive change that will help
us connect with our community. In lieu of the annual
picnic we are hosting a Community Care-A-Soul
right on the grounds of THE BLVD Midtown, Saturday, October 2
from 11:00AM until
3:00PM with lots a fun, entertainment, free food, and
prizes for the entire family. The Care-A-Soul is
part of a much larger event that includes a walk with the
Alliance for the Homeless that begins at 8:30AM and a health
fair sponsored by Baptist Operation Outreach in conjunction
with Memphis Healthy Churches that is from 10:00 AM until
2:00PM. The
entire day is one to Walk.Live.Love. This just in: The
date for my book signing of Preaching With Sacred
Fire at THE BLVD has changed. The new date is Sunday, October 17 at
both campuses (before worship service at our East Campus and
immediately following worship service at Midtown). However, my first Memphis book
signing is Tuesday, September 21 at 6:00PM at Davis-Kidd
Booksellers located on Perkins Road Extended (near Oak Court
Mall). I
would love for you to come out show the book world that
books about Good News can attract as much attention as books
about not-so-good news. Purchase
your copy on Sunday October 10 at either campus and get $10

Finally,
I encourage you to make plans to be with us this Sunday as we

2010 COVENANT MEMBERSHIP
RENEWAL We
want to stay connected with each of our members and provide
ministry that is relevant to the lives that our members lead.
Pick up the 2010 Membership Covenant Form at THE BLVD Midtown
CIC or THE BLVD East Guest Services Center. Please take a
moment to complete the form and reaffirm your membership at
THE BLVD. You can mail the form back to the church or drop it
off at the Membership Commission sign-up tables at both
locations following worship throughout the month of September.
You may also drop it by Security Desk in the Montgomery lobby,

been waiting! The Social Concerns Ministries, THE BLVD Elders,
and the Community Alliance for the Homeless are hosting a
community carnival, health and wellness expo, Walk. Live.
Love. Saturday, October 2 in THE BLVD Midtown Bellevue Parking
Lot. THE BLVD will be bubbling with excitement as we reach out
to the community with food, fun, fellowship, exercise, and
health screenings. We need volunteers to sign up at BLVD East
and Midtown lobbies beginning Sunday, September
12. ITEMS NEEDED FOR WALK.
LIVE. LOVE. COMMUNITY EXPO We
are asking BLVD servants to donate travel-size toiletries for
the Saturday, October 2 community expo. We need combs,
deodorant, lotion, mouthwash, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes,
washcloths and wet wipes. Please place donated items in
Women’s Ministry Service Project boxes in THE BLVD East and

SIMM IN FIGHT AGAINST INFANT MORTALITY Memphis
leads the nation in infant mortality with zip code 38108
leading in premature deaths. Sisters in Motion Memphis (SIMM)
an African American women’s group shares interests in fitness,
fellowship, and a desire to preserve our future. Chosen
Vessels Women’s Ministry is proud to support SIMM in their
Annual 5K Walk/Run “Project 38108” in Overton Park, Saturday,
October 16 at 9:00AM. Families, Bible Study classes and
individuals are encouraged to join in this effort. Register
after worship at THE BLVD East and THE BLVD Midtown. For

IS SICKLE CELL AWARENESS MONTH Sickle
cell anemia is a disease in which the body produces
sickle-shaped red blood cells that are stiff, sticky and tend
to form clumps. The clumps block blood flow to the vessels,
which can cause pain, serious infections and organ damage.
Sickle Cell Anemia affects about 70,000 people, mainly African
American. You can help sickle cell suffers and others who need
blood transfusions by donating blood, the gift of
life. THE
MBCC CHO BLOOD DRIVE THE
BLVD Christian Health Organization is sponsoring a blood drive
Sunday, September 26 from 8:00AM until 2:00PM in THE BLVD
Midtown Fellowship Hall. If you are 17 years old or older,
weigh at least 110 pounds and in reasonably good health, you
can donate. Pre-registration is not required. Please give
blood, give life. We need your help! For more information, email

THE BLVD CHILDREN’S
MINISTRY SUPER SUNDAY Children’s
Super Sunday is October 24 and we want this to be the best!
Our rehearsals are on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday rehearsals
begin September 12 and Saturday rehearsals begin September 18.
We need your to help make this Children’s Super Sunday the
