MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD
CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Dear Fellow
Servant:
God’s
grace is a model for everyone to emulate in all
relationships. As I speak of emulating, I think of
God, our heavenly father, as we celebrate Father’s
Day. Let’s
remember our Heavenly Father on this Father’s
Day; join me in praising and thanking Him for
every gift He has given us, every dream, every
talent, every possession, every resource and hope
for the future. Our Heavenly Father gives us
opportunities to make our lives the best we
can.
To
my BLVD fathers and men who have stepped us and
been a father figure, Happy Father’s
Day.
God has given us the best model for being an
understanding, caring and awesome father; so let
us model our fatherhood after the blueprint He has
given us. Everyone who has a father, reach out in
some way to them this Sunday, you and your father
are still here to have this opportunity, it’s a
blessing for each of you. If your father is in the
city, invite your
father to church with you this Father’s Day, June
19. If your father is no longer with you,
share one of your special memories if you can, and
if not talk to your Heavenly Father who will bless
you. God is an awesome God and
Father.
We
are winding down our “Taste of
Memphis” midweek services. We have two
Wednesdays left with Rev. George L. Parks, Jr.,
Riverside Missionary Baptist Church, this
Wednesday, June 22, and Dr. Eugene Gibson, Olivet
Fellowship Baptist Church, Wednesday, June
29.
Also
included in our June guest preachers, is my own
father in the ministry, Dr. Jeremiah
A. Wright, Jr. on Sunday,
June 26. Dr. Wright is a preacher’s preacher
par excellence. He has been very instrumental in
my preaching career and it is a blessing for me to
have him at THE BLVD. Invite your family,
co-workers, and friends to worship with us on June
26 at our East location at 8:30AM and 10:00AM at
our Midtown location to hear our President’s
former pastor and one of the top 15 Pastors as
voted by Ebony magazine.
On
Sunday, July 3, we will begin a new sermon series
“The
Message in the Music”. We will look at
generational music and family values and discover
how the best songs of our generations carry the
message of love, wholeness, inspirational and
renewal.
Decisions
…... decisions …… decisions ……
I
will begin a new Midweek sermon series “How to Make
Good, Godly Decisions.” Some of the topics I
will address are: Is this a good deal? Should I
get married or stay single? Should I file
bankruptcy or consolidate my bills? Buy a new car
or fix my old car? Join me in July as I give some
fundamental decisions to these
questions.
I
am looking forward to seeing you this Sunday,
Father’s Day.

CONGRATULATIONS FUTURE STARS BASKETBALL
TEAM
This
weekend the Lady Memphis Future Stars were crowned the
Youth Basketball of America (YBOA) 4th Grade State
Basketball Champions, undefeated 3-0. This young girls’
basketball team was birth out of THE BLVD two years ago under
the coaching staff of Cassandra
Carter-Price and Glenda Jones, and was known then as the
Memphis Spirits. The current
coaching staff is Cassandra Carter-Price, Helen Darling
and Vincent Morris.
There is very little fundamental basketball training for girls
in the primary grades,
the age when they are most impressionable and open for
development. Our goal is to increase the awareness of girls’
basketball with the hopes of boosting self-esteem and
contributing to a healthy lifestyle. We
are asking for everyone’s prayers as the girls prepare to
travel to Orlando, FL
for the National Championship, July 10 – 16. Click here to view team
