MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH |
| |
|
Dear Fellow Servant:
In our Spring Revival planning stages,
we ask God to bless our “feeble and humble efforts at
preparation.” When God truly does what you ask God to do, then
it is amazing. I sat in amazement all three nights at the Lord
moving upon the church and the hearts of the people. I was
touched deeply by the music and the preaching, by the
attendance and the dedication of volunteers and the staff. I
was touched by the new servants that joined our fellowship.
And because I was so touched, I would just like to say thank
you.
Thank you to our Music Ministry, Media
Ministry, Ushers, Silent Servants, Chef Greg, the Youth and
Children’s Ministries, James Shell (Tuesday night cook),
Brotherhood Security, Communications and Graphic Team, and
Bible School and Christian Education classes. Thank you so
much to the congregation for your attendance and your
enthusiasm. Our 2009
Revival was a great success and I thank each one of you from
the bottom of my heart. |

CHILDREN & YOUTH RENOVATION PROJECT
UPDATE |
|

|
Have you made your pledge yet? Did you
purchase an item from the Gift Registry? Or did you simply
give a “good offering” to support our Children and Youth
Project? No?
If you have not done any of those things, then you need to get
moving! We need you to pledge, give in the offering or
purchase an item from the Gift Registry to support our
children and youth project. The Lord and our children and
youth are depending on us to provide them with a “good” place
to learn and grow and to be trained in the ways of the Lord. I
believe in them. Join me in believing in the future of our
children and youth by giving to this project. |
|
Over the next few weeks we will be
highlighting ways in which you can give while staying on your
budget. This week we are highlighting our Gift
Registry.
The Gift Registry list items that will be needed to
furnish the classrooms and activity rooms when the project is
complete. Purchasing an item from the registry is another
method in which you can give to this project and receive
membership giving credit just as if you gave cash. Please go
online at click here for more
information to review the items in the
registry and purchase one today.
The highlighted item for this week is:
Item# CYR020 –
Nintendo Wii Gaming System – Need at least 2 (valued
at $250 each). The flat screen TVs that we highlighted last
week have been obtained. Continue to use the “Believe in Me
Shopping Network” Gift Registry to purchase the items our
children and youth will need.
So, go out and take a look and
purchase one of these items or something else from the Gift
Registry.
God continues to give us technology that
improves communications among His people. Blogging has not
quite become our communication tool, but I encourage you to
blog me at http://theblvdblog.org/
and
share your comments about all BLVD services and events, and
current events. I look forward to hearing from you, blog
me.

WOMEN’S MINISTRY KICK-OFF
SUCCESSFUL
The Women's Ministry Kick-Off on April 25th
was a tremendous success! One of the many highlights was the
unveiling of our new identity. With II Corinthians 4:7 as our
guiding scripture, we are now known as the Chosen Vessels
Women's Ministry;
"for we have this
treasure in earthen vessels that the excellence of the power
may be of God and not of us."
II Corinthians 4:7. Over 100 women attended the kickoff; more
than 70 white bath towels were presented to the baptismal
ministry; over 50 women signed up to attend the Embracing Your
Strengths
Bible Study which began on Wednesday, May
6th; and several women joined our circles/small
groups. If you missed the kick off you can still get involved.
Stop by the CIC to pick up a copy of the May/June calendar of
activities. For more information about the Women’s
Ministry, email us.

MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL LEADERSHIP
INSTITUTE
Attention all Parents of Middle School and High School
Students: This summer the Middle School and High School
ministries are offering a Leadership Institute that will run
from June 1 – July 30. The Leadership Institute will offer
training on various principles of leadership, project
management skills, and creative arts. There is a one time
$25.00 registration fee per teen which covers the entire
session and two meals per day. If you are interested please
visit the High School Ministry
website or contact Pastor Sharkey or Pastor Weston
to obtain a registration packet. The deadline for
registration is May 24th. Participants will
be accepted on a first come first served basis and there is a
50 student capacity for each session.
PARENT ADVISORY TEAM
Attention all Parents of Middle School and High School
Students: All parents/guardians at
THE BLVD are asked and expected to participate on our MBCC
Parent
Advisory Team (PAT) as a concerned adult
responsible for student(s) 18 under. We meet with Parents
quarterly to share program plans, calendar dates, and goals.
We also want to hear your suggestions and concerns. The
next PAT meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May
20th at 5:30PM in Room 04A.
NURSERY
PARENTS……WE NEED YOU!!!!
To ensure that our Pee Wee Disciples are safe and that
the nursery is in compliance with the State of Tennessee’s
adult to child ratio, we are in desperate need of parental
volunteers. We are asking that each parent volunteer at least
one Sunday a quarter. Please contact Pastor Weston or Annette Bowen or call
901.272.5662 to sign up!
CHILDREN AND YOUTH RENOVATION
PROJECT
MBCC Children and Youth say “thank you” to everyone who
has given to their renovation project. If you have not made a
pledge or given to the project, you can still do so through
December 2009. You can purchase an item through the Gift
Registry, make a cash donation or make a pledge. Not sure how
to make a pledge and stay within your budget? Well, an
“example” would be pledging today (May 17th) $480
and then paying $15 each Sunday for the next 32 Sundays to pay
off your pledge. In these tough
economic times, giving a little over an extended period of
time can really help you stay on track while supporting this
project. If you are interested in pledging, please write
PLEDGE on the special Children and Youth envelope and
place it in the offering tray or you can use the same envelope
and place your pledge in the offering slot located in the
Montgomery lobby. Again, thank you for your
support!
