MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Dear Fellow Servant,

Last night the Mwangaza Children’s Choir was truly an enriching, educational and engaging experience. If you missed it, you missed a concert filled with hope and promise. Thank you to THE BLVD team for making the group from Uganda feel welcomed.

Sunday we continue the sermon series, Life in the Key of G based on our Generosity to God. This week we cover Gifts.

I was reading an article about gifts in the Viewpoint section of the Commercial Appeal that resonated with me. The story hit close to home with some familiar tones. It was about a woman who graduated from LeMoyne College in 1940. When she died, she left gifts totaling nearly $500,000.00 to the college. The significance of this is that just a few years ago, LeMoyne was on the brink of closing its doors.  People had given up on the institution thinking that it had seen its best days…Oh but God! (This will preach!). God had a comeback in store in the form of an alumnus who remembered that LeMoyne was the place that got her started on a path to the good life she enjoyed. LeMoyne was there for her and opened her eyes to a world beyond Senatobia, MS (her hometown). In her mind, she had an obligation to make sure that she gave a generous gift to the life of the college because the college had given life to her dreams. Her gift was the largest one in the college’s history.

This story begs the question: What gifts do you offer to God? Hasn’t God been that good to you? Perhaps yours is not a half million dollar gift but as you have been blessed, remember to share your blessing with God’s House. Come Sunday and let’s talk about our Gifts.

I recorded 15 Minutes of Faith this week. My topic was the Oprah Effect. We put so much power in the hands of humans who eat sleep and breathe just like us. We wait in lines to get a glimpse and we run out to purchase products at their mention. It would be wonderful if we would do the same when it came to God. I won’t go deep into it now but please feel free to catch 15 Minutes of Faith every Wednesday night on 95.7 Hallelujah FM at 6pm and if you miss it, you can hear the replay on our website at any time.

Although nothing tops being in the house of God in the midst of other believers and getting the full worship experience, you can view both our Wednesday night service (7pm) and our Sunday service (10am) live on the website weekly. Come out Wednesday, May 19 to our Mid-Week Worship with the continuation of the What To Do When You Don’t Know What To Do series with Pastor Reggie Bell. As I stated earlier, you can watch online but there is nothing like being here live to explore such a thought-provoking subject as this!

I want to see you this weekend! And bring a friend or two to worship with you!
