Dear Fellow Servants,

We had a soul searching time on Sunday as we continued our series “The Search for Oz,” focusing on Courage.  In The Wizard of Oz movie, the Lion pretended to be brave until Dorothy called him out and he admitted that his life was simply unbearable because he did not have a bit of courage; in last week’s message, the Scarecrow thought he did not have a brain; and times in our lives we feel like we do not have what it takes. But, oh, when the enemy tries to fill our heads with past failures, we must stop and remember that God has given us everything we need. Take a few moments and answer the question “What is the bravest thing you have ever done in your life?” When you ponder the question, you will see times in your life when it took courage to do what you successfully accomplished. Just like the song “Encourage Yourself” by Donald Lawrence reminds us, we must encourage ourselves. Remember, God is our strength.

The “I Will Trust in God Again” series is going well each Wednesday in the MLK Seminar Room at 7PM. Let’s remember to invite our family, friends and neighbors to share in this series that will culminate at our September 22 – 24, Fall Festival of Preaching.

Fall Revival – Twelve Days Away

“I Will Trust in God Again”, our Fall Festival of Preaching will begin September 22 -24, 2008 with our vibrant guest preacher, Dr. Ralph D. West. Have you invited someone? Remember to invite them to the revival as well as to sing with renowned artist, V. Michael McKay and THE BLVD Community Choir. The choir will rehearse each night prior to the service at 6:00PM; contact the Music Ministry at 901.272.5614 for additional information. Dinner will be served for all choir participants each night.

Tuesday, September 23, 2008, will be Fall Festival of Preaching Family Night. This family dinner is designed just for you, your family, friends and neighbors to dine from 5:30PM to 6:30PM; the cost is $1.00 per person. There are limited tickets, so get your tickets immediately following 10AM. Worship Service in the Bellevue and Montgomery Lobbies.

Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at 7PM we will have specialized revival services for children and youth.  As we encourage and motivate our children and youth showing them that we love them and want them to succeed, we should be intentional about inviting them to services specialized just for them. Click here to view a special video.

The Evangelism Commission has organized “Take It to the Streets” to invite our neighbors to the Fall Festival of Preaching. They are looking for members to come out Monday through Friday, September 15 – 19, 2008, at 6PM each evening to canvas the neighborhoods and return to the church by 7:30PM each evening. Again on Saturday, September 20, 2008, teams will leave the church at 10AM, returning at 12 noon.

Please read the announcements listed below for additional dates and times that you can serve. We are the Servant Church.

With a Servant’s Heart,

Pastor Frank
