MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Dear Servant:

“DECISION 2008: IN ______ WE TRUST”

Are you ready to experience what God can do for you and your finances? It is my prayer that our new six week sermon series, “Decision 2008: In ___ (you fill in the blank) We Trust”,  will help you make a very important decision in 2008 to choose to live by God’s economy rather than the world’s economy as you navigate and survive through this devastating economic maze. I believe if you decide to live by God’s economy principles (pay God 10% in tithes, pay yourself 10% for saving and investing and live off the remaining 80%), your life will be truly transformed.

Join us and bring a friend this Sunday at 10AM, as our “Decision 2008: In ___ We Trust” sermon series focus will be “A Decision for God’s Intervention”, II Kings 4:14-20. Whether it is the illness of a loved one, turmoil in a relationship, or the impact of economic downturn, each of us will encounter an unexpected circumstance that requires God’s intervention. Often fear, anxiety and impatience influences us to take actions that work against God’s intervention. We will discuss how to position ourselves for God’s Intervention and vote YES for God. Remember to set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed on Saturday, you do not want to be late miss this sermon.

MBCC FINANCIAL U

MBCC Financial “U” classes for members and the community will begin this Saturday, November 1st . The first class is on “Managing Your Finances” from 9AM – 12 Noon. I encourage you to participate in our classes if you would like to align and manage your finances God’s way. We will have several classes with step-by-step instructions to assist you in becoming spiritually and financially fit. We are excited about what God is doing to help us manage during these very critical economic times. You may sign up for classes by clicking here or by contacting Bettye Boone at 901.272.5650 for more information. For course descriptions, locations and other pertinent information, please click here.

MIDWEEK SERVICES

Are you ready, are you ready, are you ready? - For our new midweek series – “MBCC: the family that preys prays together”.  We have planned and now we are executing our plan to encourage and rejuvenate you by offering new series that are applicable to today’s economy and circumstances. On Wednesday, November 5th, we will start our new midweek series; meet me in the MLK Seminar Room at 7PM to hear how a praying family makes it through these challenging economic times.

Do you have children and youth between the ages of 6 and 18 years? If you do, have they been attending our,SPARKS (6 – 12 years) and FLAVA (13-18 years) ? If not please encourage and bring them on Wednesday evenings from 6:30PM – 8:00PM to SPARKS in the Family Life Center, and FLAVA in our Fellowship Hall. Our children are currently learning about “Hurt Words and Help Words” (Colossians 3:8) and our youth are learning about Decision 2008: A Choice of Life or Death”. Light meals are served.

ELECTION DAY

2008 Election Day is Tuesday, November 4. The polls will be open from 7AM – 7PM. Our votes make us intrinsic parts of this historical election. When we vote, we take a stand to say we are concerned about our families, friends and country. I encourage you not to let this election go by without your vote. For additional information, click here.

HELPING HANDS AND HEARTS

Thank you to everyone who came out and participated in our Helping Hands and Hearts Ministry on Saturday. We were able to serve thirty-seven (37) families by cleaning their homes and working in their yards; we were blessed by serving them. Our volunteers consisted of MBCC members and community volunteers, what a blessing it was to have other church(s) and community group(s) to come out and be a part of our ministry outreach – servants together in God’s vineyard. Click here to view some of our photos. If you missed this servant treat, stay tuned for our future outreach projects.

MBCC CHO DIABETES SEMINAR

Do you or anyone in your family have diabetes? Do you know anyone with diabetes? African Americans are twice as likely as whites of similar ages to develop diabetes, so chances are you answered “yes” to these questions. In fact, 3.7 million or 14.7% of all non-Hispanic Blacks ages 20 and older have diagnosed and undiagnosed diabetes.

Diabetes, also called “Sugar” is a disease in which blood sugar levels are too high. Over time, having too much sugar in the blood can lead to serious complications and premature death. But, people with diabetes can take steps to control the disease and lower the risk of complications. (Resources: National Diabetes Education Program and National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases)

Please join the Christian Health Organization in the Fellowship Hall for a Diabetes Seminar on Saturday, November 15th, 9AM – 12PM. It will make a difference in your life. You will receive lots of information and freebies while you learn all about diabetes. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Mohammad Qureshi, MD, a board certified Endocrinologist and diabetes researcher. Plus, a Diabetes Educator will share her personal experiences living with diabetes, a Diabetes Nutritionist will discuss ways to make wise food choices and a team will be on hand to perform sugar testing and provide information on obtaining medications and testing supplies. Please complete the registration form and leave it in the CIC or register in person in the Bellevue or CIC lobby areas. The deadline for registration is Monday, November 10th. Don’t miss this valuable health educational program!
