Dear
Fellow Servant:
For
the past two Sundays, I have been preaching a
special sermon message about “The
Truth” from Edward
Hooper’s book, “The
River”. My
sermons were meant to be a reminder, that
no
matter who you are and/or what you have or will
be going through, you cannot lie to or fool God.
“The
Truth” will prevail, no matter what, and the
“Truth
Is Our Only Hope”. We
have parallel versions of the truth, one for the
people we trust and one for the people we do not
trust.
But many of you have missed hearing these
sermons on “Truth”
because rainy
weather and perhaps holiday celebrations, kept
you from being a part of these
experiences.
Because
of the rainy weather these last two Sundays and
Thanksgiving holiday, attendance at church
services was extremely low. As is customary,
when attendance is low due to bad weather, our
tithes and offerings are extremely low. In fact,
the offering was down 37% for the last two
Sundays. When we are not blessed to receive your
tithes and offerings, ministry opportunities are
impacted. So, I want to encourage you to attend
services this Sunday and bring your tithes and
offerings to the storehouse this week. If you
are able, give just a “little bit more” to
make-up for what has been lost. God knows your
heart for God knows the “Truth”
of all matters. So give as you have been blessed
to give. If you won’t be here Sunday or just
want to give your offering now, just
click
here to give your tithes and offerings
online.
If
you missed attending the last worship services
on this topic, don’t miss the opportunity to
pick up a CD or DVD from our Media Ministry this
Sunday
to get the full context of both of my
sermons.
Your
presence and your generous giving (or lack of
presence/giving) impacts the spiritual
well-being of this ministry. Therefore, let me
encourage you to attend services each Sunday and
come prepared to give generously of your tithes
and offerings so that the work of the ministry
and general expenses can be carried out
(click
here to view my personal video
message).
This
year Dove Tree outreach program, we are
partnering with Christ Community Health
Services to support the children of
teenage mothers. If
you have not had the opportunity to support
our
2011 Dove Tree, we have received a number of
kids in need; therefore, we have added a few
additional doves to the tree this week. Please stop
by the Church Information Center to pick up a
Dove and support this worthy cause. I am also
asking all of my men to make a $25 donation to
our Angel Tree outreach program for children
of incarcerated parents. Please support both of
these causes and return your donation to the
church by Wednesday, December 7. I really
appreciate all the support you give to our
outreach ministries. Click
here to view the video.
As
December brings a close to the year, let me
remind you to think on all the things that God
has seen you through this year and then give God
some Praise!
Don’t
forget to attend our Annual Congregational
Meeting on Monday, December 5 at 6:00PM. Also,
our Grief and Healing worship service will be on
Wednesday, December 14 at 7:00PM in our Chapel.
Please invite your family and friends who have
experienced grief this year to this very special
worship service.
Be
blessed and be in the house of worship on
Sunday!

MONEY
MATTERS
It’s
become an all-too-familiar headline – lay-offs and furloughs,
falling housing prices and rising consumer debt, declining retail
sales and increasing costs of living. Money – and the lack of it –
is a source of stress and frustration. And while people the world
over are working to stem the global financial situation we’re in,
folks at home are trying to gain some control over their own
financial situations, too. The Bible teaches us that “the people
perish because of a lack of knowledge.” Practicing positive, tried
and true money management techniques – and learning how to recognize
and avoid some “ripped from the headlines” consumer scams and
rip-offs – can help you weather tough economic times. Begin today to
educate yourself and your family about financial matters. The
Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection
agency, created the website (Money Matters) to help you tackle some
money issues head-on. Visit
their website to learn more about managing your money
and various scams designed to separate you from your
money. |
