MISSISSIPPI BOULEVARD CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Dear Servant:

PRIVILEGE LEADING A GREAT TEAM

This past weekend God granted me the privilege to preach in several important venues.   I was invited to preach at the Calvin Institute of Worship at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.   I preached two evenings and God really blessed my preaching ministry. I had a wonderful time and was joined by great music and great people.  Click here and read the rest of the story posted on my blog.

“SAY WHAT YOU NEED TO SAY”

This Sunday, I will start a new series, “Say What You Need To Say”. I will be expanding on how we can be in right relationship with God so that we can truly be family to others even if they are not family to us, in turn making our relationships whole.  I will be looking for you to be in the house, and don’t forget to invite your relatives, friends, neighbors and coworkers to share in our month of celebration.

CHURCH-WIDE BIBLE STUDY

Our Wednesday Night Worship continues in February with my new teaching series: "Sex and the City." Join me each Wednesday as we teach relevant and practical principles about our sexuality and the myths that the secular society has created regarding it. God is concerned with our spirits and our bodies, come and see what the Bible says about them both!   If you are not in a Bible Study, click here for a list of our Christian Education opportunities.

2009 UMOJA - A CELEBRATION OF UNITY

Tickets are $10.00 each for a limited time. This production will bring you to laughter, tears and possibly self-examination of where you are today and what you can do tomorrow. CHRISTIAN HEALTH ORGANIZATION (CHO) ANNOUNCES NATIONAL “WEAR RED” DAY
Friday, February 6, 2009 is a day when Americans nationwide will wear red to show their support for women's Heart Disease awareness. Heart Disease is the #1 killer of women. In fact, one in four women die of heart disease, but heart disease can also lead to disability and a significantly decreased quality of life. Now is the time to make wise choices; choose exercise over sitting, baked over fried foods, limit salt and take meds as prescribed. The CHO encourages everyone to unite in this life-saving awareness movement by showing off a favorite red dress, shirt, or tie, or red dress pin. For more information, visit the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute web site.

THE HEART TRUTH
The Heart Truth is that heart disease is the #1 killer of American women. In fact, one in four women die of heart disease, but heart disease can also lead to disability and a significantly decreased quality of life. Unfortunately, most women don't know The Heart Truth. Although significant progress has been made increasing awareness among women from 34% in 2000 to 57% in 2006, most women fail to make the connection between risk factors and their personal risk of developing heart disease. The Heart Truth is that women don't take their risk of heart disease seriously or personally. Women often fail to make the connection between risk factors, such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and their own chance of developing heart disease. Now is the time to make wise choices; exercise over sitting, choose baked over fried foods, limit salt and take meds as prescribed. The CHO encourages everyone to unite in this life-saving awareness movement by showing off a favorite red dress, shirt, or tie, or red dress pin. For more information, visit the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute web site.
